I have them on. Added them before the Prudhoe Bay Trip in 2012. I have "other" bars and ROX Risers on the bike and had to do a bit of tweaking to get them all to fit. That said I feel they give me an extra bit of protection. Will get a few pictures and post them up for you to see.

Interesting. I have to be honest, I've thrown my bike into the ground hard enough on the right side to completely fold up and destroy a Givi crash protector. I'm still using that stock right side hand guard. It is scuffed, but it didn't break. I think there might be better things to spend $160 on personally.

The OEM guards will flex and absorb the shock, those with metal will transfer the force of the impact to the handle bars and increase the risk if bending the bars.

Stock are nice but my third time it fell off the side stand it folded and broke the lever & dented the tank.
160 is less then a tank and lever & being able to ride home is nice

Wow, 36,000 miles and I've never fallen off the side stand. You must be good friends with Murphy and his Law... ::26::

That sucks, but you need better crash bars if you're getting that much damage from a low speed drop/crash.

I've had my share of low speed naps, but nothing more than a scuff or three on the oem handguards. Even before I added the Rumbux crash bars, the oem stuff impressed me with how tough it was. I suspect anyone can be unlucky with a drop or crash. Hit a rock in the wrong place and damage is more likely. $160 is just cash, so we get to decide how to spend it. I think if I wanted better handguards, I'd spend the cash for better handguards, not guards for the oem handguards. Just IMHO.

The first time no damage so I said I don't need crash bars.
Second time very small scratch third time was the charm but that was the only time on Tarmac
