Has anyone tried the Battlax A40 tires yet?

A40's are about $100 more than a set of battle wings but there is a $50 rebate so the A40's are only an extra $50, supposedly A40's have an extra 20% tread life, I've been pretty satisfied with battle wings , not sure which set I'm going to order next.
The Yamaha recommended tire pressure is 36 rear and 33 front that's what I use, if the haul road is really rough when we are up there next month I will let out a pound or two.

I've got a little over 5K on a rear A40, looks like it has a lot of mile left on it. Starting to square off a bit due to all the commuting I've been doing. Feels similar to the OEM battlewings but the profile is a bit different making the handling just a tad less precise. They'd probably be perfect changed as a pair. over 15K on the front Battlewing, it'll be due for replacement this summer. Thinking of changing to the Anakee 3s?

Liked my OEM Battlewings just fine but somehow they already have nearly 2,000 miles on them so ordered a set of A40's Tuesday and they arrived Thursday , I plan to instal them the same week as leaving for Alaska , my original Battlewings lasted 12,000 miles, supposedly the A40's are supposed to be good for 20% more miles so that would be about 14,500 miles, after the rebate the price was pretty close to the same , ordered from www.americanmotorcycle.com

How would one make sure they're getting the BW 501 "E" model as opposed to the regular ones. I'm thinking about running a40s for my long summer trip that will be >95% road (since I'm not really a not-roader yet).

There is a letter "E" on the side of the tire. And it does make a big difference in wear.

I figured there would be a marking. I'm just wondering where to order the "E"s. I don't remember seeing that as an option when I was searching a couple days ago.
Any good online store or dealer can order the 502 "E" tire. I am not recommending Chaparral Motorsports but I have purchased from them http://motorcycle.chaparral-racing.com/search?w=bridgestone%20502%20E . I have a very good relationship with my dealer and get a great price and service from them.

The 502 "G" is for the BMW GS.

Here is a direct link to the Bridgestone A40's for the Tenere and free shipping, I bought a set last week and applied online for the $50 rebate this morning, it was pretty easy using iPad .

Currently have 5,000 miles on a set of battleax and like them fine, looks like they will last a little longer than my Battlewings did.

Thread is a little aged but wondering how those fared that are running the A40's?

I just had the local shop order a set to put on my Tenere. I had absolutely no complaints about the OEM Battlewings on the raod - dry our wet. I did some serious hard riding in twisties down in NC, TN & GA too. The most I did off-road was gravel and hard pack and had no issues there either. So, I'm hoping these will be as good or better with maybe better wear. I have 8k on mine now and they are pretty worn with some cupping because a lot of my riding is commuting via interstate. With less aggressive riding, I'm sure they could easily go 10k mil. The roads down around The Dragon seem to be extra hard on tires because of the rough surface...one guy had decent tires at the start of the trip and by the end, he had cords showing. I made 2 trips there on this set of tires.

I've put 5000 miles on a set of Battle Axes since August and I love them. Sure footed in all weather encountered so far. Cornering is great. I will get another set.

I currently have the A40 and most likely will return to the Bridgestone Battlewing 501/502 "E" tires. I have to finish the A40's and a pair of Mitas E07 before I go back to the BW501/502's.
I enjoyed the A40 tires VERY much. They turn into a corner and hold the line VERY well. Very stable on the road and in the wet. Did not think I would go back to the BW 501/502 E tires... and I didn't. I had a pair of Mitas Dakar E07 I had previously purchased and needed to wear out. After adjusting to the lower tire pressures I was totally surprised how much I like the E07 tires. They do everything the A40 will do and a bit more with being a 50/50 tire. If I go away from the E07 it will be the Battlax A40 that gets the call... unless there is something new that looks promising ;)

I have almost 13k on my A40s. They're thinning in the middle, and the front is cupped about an inch wide in the center. I'd run them again, but am going to try the E-07s first.... well after I wear out my leftover Pr4 front and BW rear that I took off to put on the A40s for my trip.
