Hi Guys ,
When we go camping we use these Parachute Nylon Hammocks made by Grand Trunk. ( we have the single wide , but they also sell a double wide ). These hammocks are very very comfortable and they're strong , they'll support up to 400 pounds. They have a side pocket for your book or bottle of water , when your done the whole hammock ( including ropes and hanging gear ) folds up into that side pocket and it has a draw string to keep it shut. When it's folded it's less than the size of a football. They also make then with bug nets and a rain fly.
If you life and ride in an area with a lot of trees , this may be a great sleeping option for you ??

Here is one with the rain fly. But this one only supports 250 lbs. But you can use the parachute nylon hammock that supports up to 400 lbs and make a rain fly with a small tarp.

Picture of my wife and I in our hammocks. ( The picture of me in the hammock was the first time I set it up. I thought I had it up high enough but didn't account for the new rope stretch. I later got up and re-adjusted the ropes to get it a bit higher off the ground. )

We've got hammocks and they can be zipped to keep out the 'skeeters, but prefer the tents. The tents go up almost as quick and have lots of room for unloading gear from the bike, stripping down, then giving a bit of elbow room.

I understand , I just posted it for the guys who like to travel real light. You do need a blanket in the hammock to sleep on top of , or else you'll get cold from the air under you.
My wife and I usually take the truck camping and tow the bike so I don't have to sleep on the ground.

I used my Warbonnet Blackbird hammock and a Kelty 12 Noah tarp for my summer trip which included leaving from Idaho to the 2012 Yukon Rally in Whitehorse, on to the UP of Michigan and back to Idaho. Weather from near freezing, days of rain and and hot summer nights. Over 8500 miles. Never once missed a tent and I own many. The tarp is big enough to cover the hammock, a picnic table, and my bike. I dubbed the hammock my "cocoon". Only problem was trying to get up early for long days in the saddle. Kept on sleeping in ;D

If it's as comfortable as my Grand Trunk Hammock , I can understand you not wanting to get out of it. We set our up on the Bighorn Mountain when we're camping and when the wind blows the hammock it rocks you to sleep. :)

Good thread, I'm a hammock fan too. ::008::

I got one of these as a gift a long time ago, and have been relatively happy with it: http://www.byerofmaine.com/products/amazonas/traveller-lite-hammock.html

Here's some action shots of it in use with my KLR. Were there other trees to tie off with, probably, but it turns out that I'm addicted to the KLRista disease. Note my bedside 'end table'. I'll admit though, getting the geometry adjusted to something I trusted to sleep on was a little tricky....but I'd do it again tomorrow! :D

I haven't sprung for any engine guards on the 'ten yet, so we'll see how that goes. Considering the center stand, I'm betting a little more stable! ::024::

Nice little Hammock.
The thing I love about the Grand Trunk Parachute Nylon Hammocks is their strength , they support up to 400 pounds. ( where as the one you posted supports only 250 ) I'm a pretty big guy ( 6'4" tall and 240 lbs ) so strength in a hammocks is a must for me.
I've never seen a hammock hocked up to a bike like that. If I tried that I'd probably end up on the ground. ::025:: Grand Trunk also makes a Hammock that can be used on the ground as a tent.
In any case , happy camping bro. Have fun. :)

::026:: on Warbonnet Blackbird . I got 1.7 with everything on it. IMHO this is the best thing to happen to hammock camping.
On day trip I use ENO Doublenest.

I have a Hennessy Explorer wih the Super Shelter and Hex tarp. With this setup and a down bag I'm good down to freezing. Can't imagine ever sleeping in a tent again.

I spent a month in Hawaii as a kid on my "Wild Oats Tour", bicycle touring (solo), and slept on a $5 Bi-Mart Special the whole time. Nuthin' like swinging in the breeze between two palm trees.

Howdy YST'ers ,
In my original post posted that I use a Grand Trunk Single Parachute Nylon hammock because it's tough and supports up to $400 pounds. I'm 6'4" tall and 236 pounds and I'm very comfortable in my G.T. Hammock , I love my G.T. Hammock and use it a lot.
However , Yesterday I can across another good Hammock site. These Hammocks are also very strong and support up to 400 lbs. They also have some quilt under liners and inner liners for sale on this site. They also sell swinging chairs. I may purchase some of their products and try them out. http://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/#1 .
