H7 Led Lights

I have been trying to find out which are the characteristics of the Led Bulbs to fit the súper tenere. My basic understanding is that the are H7 which means that they have only one position and the súper tenere has a shutter that regulates the output.
As in Argentina we don’t have specific conversion kits I want to know if any good quality H7 will work or if there are any specifics of the bulb required.

Thanks

Go to mercadolibre and look for H7 LED kits that have no more than 55 watts draw, (the stock headlight bulb draws 55 watts). Typically you want something in the 8000 to 12000 lumen range and a color temp 4300 to 5k. The white to yellow/white light gives better contrast at night. Getting too high a color temp makes the light appear bluish and is harder for the human eye to see contrast in.

You want a light that has just the cable and a plug, not one with a ballast inline with the plug. The balast makes it harder to fit into the Yamaha housing.

Something like this: LINK

Note that you will need longer caps for the back of the light housing to allow the longer LED base to fit inside. They are sold in the vendor area of this forum.

Thanks, this really helps a lot! I have already 3D printed new housings for the bigger bulbs.
Thanks again!!!

Be aware that LEDs are polarity biased. All this means is that even though the plug will go in either way, it will only light up one way. If you plug your LED bulbs in and one or both don't light up, turn the plug around and plug back in, then try again. Odds are good they will work fine then. You have a 50% chance of getting it right the first time. :) No damage will occur if you have it backwards. Just no light.

Thanks, Let me ask you one more question. The draw is max 55 w per light or in total?

55w per light. Watch out for the LED descriptions. Sometimes they list the watts or lumens as combined total for 2, other times as individual bulb/emitter.

Sorry for this but at $600 this seems to be beyond the reach of many.
Where are you getting the $600 price? I paid around $35 for a pair of LED bulbs and then what the extended caps cost from deftoner.

The link I posted above is in Argentine Pesos despite the $ sign.

BidorBuy would be your go to source. Here is a set of Nighteye 50W 8000LM (for the pair) set in 6500k color temp for R799. LINK That's about $56 USD.

Poking around on BidorBuy I ran across this set of Nighteye LEDs that is designed to mimic halogen bulbs by the way they place the LED emitters and a different style of 'bulb'. More expensive than other LED kits I've seen, and this version has an inline ballast which is more challenging to fit into our headlight housings, but I find it interesting all the same. A counter to those feeling the LEDs don't work well in their Halogen designed reflectors. LINK R1199 (~$84 USD)

US Ebay link for $56 HERE

Hi...i swapped mine with the new LEDs but now need a new dust cover. Have not been able to find one that fits and wanted to get something that will look nice and is not some make shift solution. Has anyone had any luck with this? I have a 2012 model.

The original longer caps are 3D printed by a forum member, deftoner. Thread HERE All models are the same from 2010 to 2019. I have also seen some for sale on Ebay that someone else is making. I have deftoner's and they fit perfectly. You will either re-use your o-rings from the stock caps or need to source some new ones. I was able to find new ones at a local hardware store. I just took one of my stock cap o-rings with me to use for size comparison.
