Picked up my first Super Ten -- a new 2014 ES -- on Saturday, and am loving it. Came from a 2010 FJR (only five months) and before that, a 2012 V-Strom 1000 (13,000 miles in 18 months). Couldn't deal with the Feejer's ergos, and didn't care for the handling or the harsh ride. The Super Ten has everything I liked about the Vee but corrects all of its shortcomings. ::012::

EricV helped me decide to make the switch. (Thanks, Eric!)

The bike will see use both for weekend adventures two-up, and for ocassional LD use. I may have only 192 miles on the bike, but I'm convinced it's going to work very well for me. I look forward to participating in the online community here.

Welcome Vanderwho
Your comments on the FJR are exactly my thoughts about them, I tried many time to like the bikes so I could buy one but could not.
I still ride them a lot but do not like them.
Yamaha bringing over the Tenere was the best thing in motorcycling that ever happened.

Thanks, all, for the warm welcomes. It's true... just out my back door is a rider's paradise (were it not for November through March). I've lived in Colorado for more than 40 years; my wife of 10 years moved here from SoCal 15 years ago. A couple weeks ago she decided she's had it with the winter weather here, and wants to move back to SoCal. I'm a bit ambivalent... mostly because I now know Colorado like the back of my hand, and it is a terrific place to live from April through October. The cost of living is high, but not nearly as high as California. I know she'll be happier there, and it will be nice to be able to ride more-or-less year-round ...and there will be a whole new set of roads to explore ...did I say I was ambivalent? Maybe the expression is "cautiously optimistic." :) We'll probably try to make it happen about this time next year. (Wife runs her own business from our home, and can work anywhere there's an Internet connection, but I'll need to go back to school and pick up some new skills before I'll be able to look for a new job in CA.)

Cautiously Optimistic?
Sounds more like you are somebody that takes the cards you are dealt and plays a good hand no matter what!

I like that, by the way. :)
I predict many awesome adventures for you on the back of your new stead. Regardless of which state the starting point is.

I want to be the first to congratulate Snake on post # 4000!!! ::015::

Truly an epic achievement my man! Not too many ahead of you on the all-time list at this point - only a matter of time until you take down ColoRider!!

Sorry for hijacking your thread, Vanderwho. Welcome to the forum!
