. . . where it's currently raining like the dickens (beginning just after I added a few new bits of bling to the bike, of course!). I posted about the farkles added to my Yamaha recently in the "What you did to your Tenere today..." thread, and was prodded here to add something in this part of the asylu . . . er, forum.

I live in Campbell, CA (just think Silicon Valley, for those not familiar, about fifty-odd miles south of San Francisco), and picked up my SuperTen in February. Just over 600 miles now, and looking forward to more. Already had a couple leisurely-ish rides up to Alice's -- a big local bike hangout -- where the bike seems to draw a small crowd every time. Lots of curious GS riders! Maybe some will convert, though I'm not really an active proselytizer; the bike is probably its own best advocate, anyway.

My first bike was in fact an R100GS, back in the mists of time. (Remember carbeureters, anyone? That sounds flip, but having recently met people who'd never seen a floppy disk, in one case, and a vinyl record, in another, or the movie Star Wars in a theater, well . . . suddenly I feel old.) I'm glad to be back in the adventure-tourer fold! I also have a Triumph Thunderbird in the stable currently, for cruisin' around town in relaxed mode. Can't wait to get a few camping trips in with the SuperTen to get its feet dirty, if work ever lets up enough to let me go for a few days. At least I get to start and end almost very day with a bike ride to and from work -- the glories of our mild climate.

When not on the bikes, I work directing the clinical research department of a biotech company, specializing in oncology research. Pays the bills, and is at least a relatively beneficial gig even on those most awful corporate soul-sucking days. I also juggle, play a couple musical instruments, dabble in astronomy (most recently with a dedicated solar telescope; you haven't lived until you've seen close-up views of our own star in real time with your own eyes!), try to keep my three parrots and 3/4 of a cat entertained, cheer for the Sharks even in their current self-destruct mode, and try to enjoy the outdoors in this lovely state as much as I can. I also apparently like to lurk around Internet bulletin boards dedicated to this awesome bike for weeks before poking my head up, so: hello!

Time for a single-malt nightcap before bed, but glad to have found some fellow-travelers . . . Cheers!

Welcome herb. Was just talking with a friend about Alice's Restaurant. Stop for a burger every time I am in the area. The Tenere always generates 20 Questions and a Hundred Looks.
