Long time Honda rider - made the jump to a Yamaha Tenere' last August. I could do without the throttle by wire, but other than that, the Tenere is a very capable road bike with back road poise. If I'm not on the Tenere, I'm sporting around on one of my three antique Hondas - 1976 Goldwing - 1982 CBX - 1989 Transalp.

Looking forward to meeting other Tenere riders in PA and elsewhere.

Welcome aboard! I think you will grow to like the TBW - just takes a little getting used to. Sure makes cruise control on a motorcycle a lot easier and refined.

I too was the proud owner of a TransAlp! Actually, owned three over the years. Two '89's and one '90. Loved the red '90 and always wanted one of the RARE biege '90's.

Greetings from another SW PA Tenere owner. Pardon but your stable sans S10 sounds like my neighbor across the street!!!!

I think I would have noticed another S10 in the neighborhood so figured you and he are not the same.

Anyhow welcome!

Me and at least two buddies are riding down to Romney on the Thursday and you are welcome to tag along.

Otherwise drop a PM. My claim to fame is knowing ALL of the dirt roads in central to western PA and I use them often!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

The Romney event is looking more and more attractive. I have a fellow Tenere owner and forum member also working on me to attend. There is a small matter of no camping gear, but I'm working on that.

Absolutely. Look under events on the forum for everything you need to know about the Romney WV Camp and Ride. May 5-7th. Couple guys from the greater pgh area are heading down on the Thursday.

As for the dirt roads, definitely state forest roads but i can show you dirt roads in Allegheny county! They are everywhere in PA you just have to piece them together. Over Christmas I took some guys on a ride from Freeport on the Allegheny River up to the Foxburg Inn on the upper Allegheny using dirt back roads for 85% of the ride. Roughly 65 miles and took 3.5 hours. By straight tarmac the same ride takes 1.25. PA Gazeteer is one source of the roads but even Google can help you find them.

Thanks Terrysig

If the road network from Freeport to Foxburg is on the east side of the Allegheny, I think that I have been on most of them. If it is on the west side,I have some exploring to do. I live in the Leechburg area, so this is close to home

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new bike. We have quite a nice group of PA riders here. I'm sure they will drag you out for a ride now and then. ;D Do them the equal favor and drag them out for rides too. ::008::

Terrysig, thank you for the info. I am heading back to Alaska beginning of June. Lots to prepare for. I will keep this on the list for next year. Still working on outfitting my new Tenere. Thanks again and have at Romney.

Sure thing. Please report back on your Alaska travels. I week trip at the most so very interested in others who do more "epic" trips.

I was up there in 2012 on my HD, 16 day round trip from southeast PA. This trip will be 23 day run on the Tenere. My Buddy Tom and I are busy setting up the bikes. This will be his first time to Alaska. Looking forward to it.
