Hello, I am new to this forum and new to the Tenere. I am about to start my 6th decade of riding motorcycles. I am also starting a new adventure with this bike. I have been all over the USA including Alaska and a trip to New Zealand by motorcycle. It has been a great ride so far. Most of it has been on pavement and most of it on a HD. My first trip to Alaska was on a HD Road King. I made it to the start of the Dalton when the old girl decided it was not going to go any further. After a slow ride back to Fairbanks and not enough time to try again after making repairs, I worked my way home (8770 miles in 16 days). It was a great adventure as all of them have been.

Now forward to 2017. I bought a new 2015 Tenere this past Oct. My buddy Tom also bought one and now we are getting ready for another trip to the north country. It will be my second and his first. We are going up this summer in June. The Teneres will take us to all the back roads and places where the Road King just did not hold up so well.

I have been reading this forum for some time and find everyone very informative and helpful, I look forward to reading more and learning more from everyone's experience.
Thank you for excepting my membership and hope someday to be able to write a trip report for all to enjoy.

Safe riding to all

Welcome aboard SouthJim!

There are several inmates here that have made the Tenere version of that Alaska trip. Some of them are well documented and have the pictures to go with it.
If you check on advrider, you will find some great ride reports and see just how crazy some of these fellas are with The Biggest Dirt Bike In The World.

Cheers to you both!

Hi SouthmtJim,

Greetings from another PA Tenere. Hopefully see you around the state sometime. Plenty of us making use of the state forest and farms roads for our riding.

Welcome from your eastern neighbor. The Alaska trip is on my bucket list, and I cannot think of a better bike than the Super Tenere.

Thank you Snakebitten,
I have read many of the RR's both here and on advrider. A lot of great info. Even thought I have been to Alaska once already on a bike, I was not very well prepared and learned some lessons the hard way. Thankfully none of the lessons ended with injuries, just some very cold and wet riding and some breakdowns. The info from the two forums have been a great help with preparing for this next trip. I know this time it is the right bike and better equipped. Looking forward to it. For now it is more seat time on the Tenere. It has been a long time since any real dirt riding. In between snows I try to get out as much as I can. I had it out in the snow once, that did not go so well. Practice, practice.
