Hey all , I am thinking of buying the zumo 660 . Is anyone running the motorcycle mount that comes with it? I want to mount on the handle bar mounts and am wondering if it is substantial enough to be permanent or if I'll have to add after market bracket , also how difficult is it to hard wire to the battery ?

I just got a zumo 550 off eBay. Planning to mount it on the Madstad windshield bracket and wire it to the battery as well. Don't expect that to be A big job. Make sure the 660 comes with all the mounting HW and RAM cradle.

I've got a Zumo660 mounted on my lhs bar using a short ram mount to the garmin m'bike mount. It doesn't vibrate and is close enough to be easy to use on the move (where allowed by local law enforcement obviously) . I replaced the ram bar wingnut with a allen bolt and couple of nuts to lock it as an anti theft measure (for the mount) and I never leave the Zumo in it unattended thought that's not usually a problem as its fits in most pockets easy enough.

I use the 660 with the standard mount fitted onto a ram mount that replaces one of the handlebar top clamp bolts. It is a very neat installation, there is no vibration and it is perfectly safe. The wiring is easy enough except that the loom includes a load of extra wires / connectors for various accessories, which I just bundled up and hid underneath the right hand side cover.

I did exactly the same thing and it works very well.
