Hope they end up making a ring for the Tenere. Have the large yama bag but a smaller option would be great too.

Yes, bag fits securely and is the perfect size for small items, but it is small so if you want to put a pair of gloves etc in there its not going to work for you. It's a good size for phone wallet and a couple of other small items you may need to keep to hand. It is on and off the bike in literally seconds using the tanklock system. The tank ring is listed on givi's site with the part number, in the uk it is anyway?...

I just bought the Givi ring for my 2012 Tenere and have it installed. Works better than the SW Motech setup that I had on my Versys. Sport Tour Ltd should have them in stock.

I bought the larger T491 tank bag, so I can't comment on the smaller one.

Small is what I want. I bought the Yamaha bag but its just to big for me...I don't like having something tha big on the tank and the little fanny pack thing hits my gut so I can't use that while riding.

The current bag I have is tiny....I mean really tiny....can fit a phone and registration....thats it...even my Galaxy S3 is a tight fit lol

So I want something a bit bigger, that can hold my phone registration..sun glasses..maybe a couple other small items...thats it. I have panniers for the big stuff and I don't need access to it while I'm riding anyway.

There is a ring that should fit the Tenere btw...you just have to search a bit for it.

I have been on the fence on which one to buy, I want the tank lock system but which bag?

491?
480?

I think the 489 is too small and I KNOW the 3D600 is too small as well.

Just a heads up, your Galaxy S3 won't fix in the top "window" of the Givi 3D600. When we were at White Horse I tried my Galaxy Nexus (a little smaller than the GS3) and it was a no go.

ordered my 480 and tank ring, should be here Monday.....

not trying to be a anti-anything...........how necessary is the pelican on top of your tank? I get the water proof need but unless you bike ends up upside down will you ever need anything so strong? Did you already have the Pelican case?

it is hard to detect the tone on a forum, not bashing at all just curious, only seen a few similar to yours, personal preference?

No sweat, and it is hard to gauge a persons intent sometimes on a forum. Too answer your question, I already had the case, it had been sitting on a shelf for about 6 months with the tags still on it collecting dust. Extra bonus I can lock it easily.

cool wanted to make sure I was not coming off like a a-hole.

I get it, I got all kind of stuff laying around as well. Did not think about the ability to lock it.

I purchased the Givi tank lock ring and the mini bag with the hard shell and phone holder built in and I absolutely love it! The mechanism for installing and removing the bag is second to none. This bag drops on extremely easy - I think you could do it blind folded and the release is just as simple.

The bag is small, but I like that better for aggressive riding, and it is surprising how much you can actually pack in even a small bag. The phone holder is better in fantasy than reality. It is designed for a medium size smart phone or smaller. Large smart phones are a very tight fit and difficult to insert and remove from the pouch. I had to cut the bottom of the securing pouch on the back side of the lid to allow the phone to slide in a little deeper and have the screen centered. Surprisingly, while my screen won't work with gloves directly on it - it does work with gloves through the bag - not sure the reasoning for that one. However, the screen faces directly towards the sky and this makes washout from the sun almost a guarantee any time of day.

Ultimately, I haven't been using the phone pouch because of the issues noted above; however, I still find the bag perfectly sized and extremely handy.

I have one GIVI TANK BAG 3D TANKLOCK 15LT 3D604

Small but well made. Holds glasses, gloves, phone, wallet, a few odds and ends and has a nice rain cover. A great little bag for daily use.

CON

When you take it off the bike and carry it ... sort of looks like a purse ....
