I'm really wanting to get a Giant Loop Great Basin bag instead of hard panniers. I think they would provide a benefit for off road use, and in a fall or top over, I wouldn't need to worry about a broken side case, plus I prefer the look of the Giant Loop over hard panniers. I do have a Hepco and Becker trunk but j don't really like how it bounces around when on rough or even gravel roads.

Would like to hear from those who use them.

I have both the OEM panniers and a Great Basin from Giant Loop. I almost never use the hard cases for anything more than running errands around town. Any longer camping trips where I am riding in the dirt/gravel, I always go with the Great Basin. The Great Basin is built tough as nails and offers very flexible packing options. There is really nothing bad I can say about it. I would get one and try it out. They are popular enough that if it did not really suit your needs, getting rid of it at a minimal loss would not be a huge issue.

For example, there is one that was listed at ADVrider just recently - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1055927

Anytime I'm venturing off road all hard luggage comes off. I've owned a lot of soft luggage including Giant Loop. Liked the product but recently picked up moskomoto.com soft bags. Love them, however, they are just now finishing development of their version of giant loop. Taking initial orders on them now. Head over to advrider.com and into vendor section or blog section on their website.

I purchased the OEM cases but wish I had gone this route. It is more than half the price and, as noted, much better for off-road.

Plus one on the Mosko Moto stuff. I don't own any (yet) but I got some hands on time with some of the samples this weekend. Really well thought out design. Very technical bags instead of a PVC coated sack like some other stuff I own.

One of the owners was a former designer for Dakine so they were able to use their manufacturing connections to make what looks to be some really top notch stuff.
