Not sure if this is really a mod per say but I saw these covers in my Cycle World mag and contacted them. They are custom made and have the pattern for the XT on hand. When you order whatever type cover you want that's when you let them know about side bags, large windshield etc so they can adjust the fit. Since I'm riding to work year round I want the bike protected while sitting outside. Heat can do some serious damage to paint, instruments, gear etc. Check out the PRICE & FABRIC tab for more info.

I've owned a couple Geza covers over the years. VERY pricey, but nice covers. IIRC, the more basic ones are more for dust protection than they are for waterproofness. The stretchy aspect is kinda neat, but after a while, all those areas that are being stretched to follow the contours of the bike become weak and the fabric gets baggy and thin.

My $.02, you can get better covers for the money.

I'm gonna try my GL1800 half cover and maybe modify it a bit. If it works, I can save some bucks.

This is good info Rod I was hoping someone would have some experience with these before I pulled the trigger. They are not cheap that is very true I guess I will go with something just as good but less money. What's IIRC I don't know that abbreviation?

Nice covers. Bit rich for me. I agree though the UV and heat can do serious harm and I'd always use a cover of some description. Currently, mine go from garage to garage for the most part. I keep a lightweight silvered reflective one on board just in case though.

I think it means "IF I Recall Correctly?"

My bike spends an average of 2 nights per week at the airport parking lot, so I usually just go with the large version of whatever Walmart is offering. They last about 2 years, and then I just replace. No matter what I get, it gets abused by the Orlando weather extremes of either baking sun or wind driven rain. They all fail at around the 2 year mark. All I really need is waterproof and a heat resistant felt liner for the tail pipe. Makes no sense for me to spring for the fancy tailored ones since I go through them so frequently.

Very good Paul thanks couldn't figure that out for the life of me. I agree with you about the covers I just want some protection from sun and rain while it sits for 8 hours three days a week. I get to work from home the other 2. I don't want to break the bank on a cover spending enough on other bling. I read on the C14 forum one time some guys needles on his gauges melted from the sun.

Generic covers for me as well. Nice to keep the dew off the bike too for those cool mountain mornings.
