. . . . 1) Do you ever wish you were riding a smaller, more maneuverable bike like theT7 or one of the other brands in the 650-850 class or do you just prefer the S10s highway prowess and comfort? and 2) for those of you who might have had both, what is the advantage (besides shaft drive) of owning a S10 over a newer Africa Twin . . . .
Coming from from your 'Wing, and 'Wing-lite, the Tenere is gonna feel like a bicycle.

What is your end use for the bike? If you are going to do long distance, hands down, the T-12 is the ticket. It's OE features, and that extra weight, make it a mile muncher. If, you're going to spend more time in the dirt, and less time on the road, then the T-7 or A.T. might be the way to go. The A.T. has a 21" front tire, a chain, and less weight.

I have not ridden an A.T. I saw one in person last Sunday. It looked tall. Looked like a big dirt bike. Mak10, and eemsreno, have extensive off road experience. If that's where you're heading, they can provide apple to apple details.

But, I'm a pavement princess. The Tenere carries "all that weight" extremely well. Feels like a smaller bike. I have extensive on road experience. There is no other bike that I would rather ride. She's my favorite ever.

Welcome from central Missouri. Also an engineer here. I worked all the ins and out in comparison with other bikes. I can't say I settled on the Tenere because it was an easy decision.
