Anybody 5'10-6'1" have a 2014+ S10 with a Yamaha tall windshield or after market windshield that made high speed rides (75-85 MPH) less noisy? I'm not interested in modifications or different types of aftermarket brackets. I would like to bolt on and ride. If so, did it quiet things down? Any buffeting? I still am using stock screen and although I don't get buffeting, it's way too damn loud. 5'11.5" 32 inseam. Thanks! Links appreciated to old posts as well. (can't find what I'm looking for)

We are the same size and I have a 2015 ES with the Yamaha Tall windshield. Originally bought the Tall windshield for riding in cold air. I soon discovered most of the buffeting disappeared. Later on I added the aftermarket windshield brackets ($20) and that reduced the buffeting to 99%. The bracket allows the windshield to be adjusted in small increments and not just three positions.

Are their better windshields... probably but that would be for someone else. If I wanted to change something it would be a wider windshield for winter riding.

Any photo of the aftermarket bracket?

National Cycle VStream windscreen helped a lot w/ the wind noise for me. For reference, I'm 6 ft w/ 32 - 33 inch inseam. Also used VStream on my FJR with good success.

Hi Arizoner,

I'm 5'11 and have a 2016ES. I have the tall Yamaha windshield. Its a great windshield, but I don't find that it provides 100% wind protection for my height. I had some buffeting on the top of my helmet. I added a small spoiler on the top of the windshield that is adjustable height and angle, and now this windshield blocks almost 100% of the wind towards my body and helmet. I literally have not rode with a closed visor on my helmet all year, even if it was cold or hot or raining -- the wind goes right over my head. I highly recommend a small spoiler on the top of the tall screen for complete coverage. I like that it can be angled for when you do want wind, or want to block as much as possible.

What brand are the brackets, or where did you buy them? Thanks

Where did you get the spoiler? Do you have to look through it, or is it entirely below your field of vision?

It was a member from this forum... can't remember who it is. Maybe someone can help us with the Rider selling the windshield brackets.

Thanks for opinions. I just ordered the OEM tall, but if somebody does have any info on the $20 (hopefully) bracket, I'd love to see it.

Search was not my friend on this bracket.....

I think the brackets mentioned are not what you may be thinking. The one's offered on sale from a forum member are more stabilizers than actual screen mount brackets....

I am 6'1" and have a 2014. I use the Puig Touring windscreen ($100), and I made my own air wings on the side. I would say the combo is very good, but...it depends what you came from and how quiet you would like it. It is not Goldwing or R100 Rt quiet, but I did not want a large windscreen, so this combo works for me and is cost effective. I also have read that many love the spoiler, I just don't like those in my vision.

Snap. . . . . I've got the same on my 2015 bike, but with factory winglets, I'm very happy with the set-up ::012::.

Hi Arizoner,

Its called Rugged Roads Adjustable Windscreen Spoiler and I bought it from ADVmotorad but it was the last one, you can try and email or google them and find out if they have more. I love its customizability. I can adjust the angle so I'm looking over it or through it, you get used to it.

Arizoner, I'm 1/2" taller than you and long torso. I have a madstad bracket off of my old 2012 and a gen1 tall Parabellum windshield (also gen1) on my gen2 2016. It's very quiet in my opinion. My buddy has a different windshield on his '14 and mine is quieter. You can put a gen2 Parabellum on your stock flimsy bracket but you'll probably need those brackets that someone is selling here to reduce vibration.

I found good luck with a Parabellum medium, Madstadt bracket (and braces), and winglets. I also found that mirror extenders had a large effect on buffeting and associated noise levels. I had a tall Parabellum but found I had to have it at the lowest setting to avoid looking through it or experiencing a lens effect between looking through or over the windscreen. The medium is plenty tall and gives me some adjustability. I'm a hair over 6 feet.

All that said, at freeway speeds, there is simply going to be more noise. But with my current setup, if I put my head into the windstream, it is noticeably louder.

If noise is your chief concern, you might want to look into earplugs. I ride with earplugs most of the time, but especially if I'm going to hit highway/freeway speeds.
