Have a question about my new 2015. The left side display (speedo/tach) on my bike has nice dark numbers and a clear background. The right side (trip meter/etc) has lighter colored numbers and a faint shadow to the background area.

Normal? or is it time to go whine to the Yamaha dealer.

My '16 has darker numbers and letters on the left part of the display, than the right side. I'd say the left side has black digits and the right is more of a dark grey digits. Adjusting the display brightness affects both sides but they are still different side to side.

Mine is the same. The smaller display seems to have a slightly different contrast setting (which is not adjustable).

its not a problem though, you just dont notice it after a while. :)

No, that is normal.

The two displays are different types. The one on the right is an addressable pixel display so that it is programmable and can show images. The one on the left is a standard LCD that can only display the predefined elements. Since they are different types of LCDs they have slightly different contrast abilities and backlighting thus the differences.

If I were designing the system I'd have used a single programmable unit to provide ultimate flexibility and updating capabilities over the life of the product. However, that would have been the more expensive option as well.
