I am on about mile 600 and have been getting about 35 mpg. I have been running low rpm's in tour mode and definetly have not run it hard at all. I have seen gas mileages much better and was wondering if this is typical during the break in period or is 35 about right. I am running 93 octane so just looking for some feedback.

Don't recall what the breaking MPG was. I get substantially better than that now. Put it S mode and run those Cheaha AL roads with enthusiasm. ::001::

I average around 52/53 mpg (UK gallons) and I once managed 74mpg while on a run with a very slow rider. It wasn't fun mind...

I think I may have seen high 30's to low 40's in the beginning, low to mid 40's now, US gallons,(consistently for 15,000 miles). Keep in mind cold temps, short trips and traffic will markedly raise your fuel consumption. I wouldn't worry just yet, Scorpio. Take a few long trips and keep an accurate fuel log first. Don't trust the onboard meter, it's usually optimistic by a couple-few mpg.

Break in MPG will be lower, but within a thousand miles or so, based on my experience, you'll see 40-45 mpg.

My MPG varies greatly with speed as one would expect. It seems that around a steady 65 mph, I get about 45 to 48 mpg. I rode to Big Bend from San Antonio last week and the speed limit was 75 mph. On this trip, I was averaging about 80 mph and my gas milage was in the mid to upper 30's MPG.

Elevation plays a role as does ethanol bended crap in gas mileage. Here at 3500ft elevation and up my mileage is 55-60mph Imperial with High Test, which is about 45-50 U.S. gallon. As some one here stated, that's riding enthusiastically. Also find that my 2014ES gets better gas mileage than my 2012 did, consistently. So 35 mph is pretty low. Try another gas station and ride harder.

Elevation plays a role, the Tenere doesn't loosen up till about 1,500 miles, and I don't pay as much attention to Winter blend mileage as it can drop more than 5%.

On non-winter gas for commuting, I typically indicate around 50-ish US or more mpg, which is in the high 40s, sometimes into the 50s. On highway trips I plan for 37-38 and the real mileage depends a lot on how fast I'm going. I've seen from 30 to 50+ mpg on trips.

I have had my S10 for 2 months now and put 3000 miles on it. The first week I was averaging 43 MPG then added the OEM side cases and parabellum tall windscreen and it dropped to ~38. Still averaging about 38. My wife rides with me about 60% of the time. I am definitely not easy on the throttle. ( All figures based on the S10's computer, I have not tried calculating it for myself)

Enough of the funny UK stuff! ::016::
Mine was at 38 on the ride home from the dealership. Got better as it broke in. I am at around 4500 mi now and consistently get 44-48. Winter gas blows too so plan on 10% less mileage.....plus another 5% or so with ethanol gas.
BUT.....the faster you go the lower the number big time. The 10 is not exactly shall we say........aerodynamic?
I ride in sport mostly 1 up with bags and 2-up with the third bag on the back :))
Above 75 you are pushing a square through the air ::025::!
Mileage will drop rapidly into the mid-upper 30s.
Mine ia a 2012 with stock screen in high position mostly with the little wings on the side.
YMMV of course. ::015::
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ::016:: ::016:: ::016:: ::016::

My new 14 ES is getting much better than my 12 did. I was averaging about 38 when I first got it (2012) and when I sold it, avg was about 40. My 2014 is getting about 43-45 avg during break in. I expect to get better after I get more miles on it.

600 miles? That's less than 3 full tanks of gas. I don't think you can reliably determine what your averaging on 3 tanks. The mpg display on the bike is consistently optimistic by about 2mpg so I never really look at it.
I'm a little weird about gas mileage, and record my mileage at every fill up- a little OCD I know. I'm averaging 41 mpg over the past 12 months and about 13k total miles. Over the summer I was seeing 43-45 mpg. Since November it's dropped to 36-38.

I fill up shortly after that last little black segment starts blinking.
It might be as low as 175 miles on the tankful, or as high as 190.

Makes no difference to me. I HAVE to buy gas sometime within the next 40 miles.

Basically, I look at it like a carnival ride. If I want to keep riding, I have to put some more quarters in it. :)

Good info. I have a 12 and with no cases am getting 35. I thought it would be somewhat better but it isnt. At about 10k on the clock. Not bad enough to get me concerned... just wish I was in the mid - forties.

i am running mine in at the moment but wont bother checking mpg till well after 1,500 mls as the engine is still tight and wont give a true reading till its all loose . you need to get some miles on its back ...

I am getting about 38-42mpg. I wouldnt bother looking at the dash read out...always seems wildly optimistic to me.
