After reading a lot of posts on SA/Mexican gas quality I was wondering if a Tenere would be able to make the trip. Since the bike requires high octane gas how would all of this work out?

I guess Octane booster could help a bit. And if you can't find unleader, it may damage your cat, so maybe changing the header for one without a cat would be a good idea.
BTW, bike will run with low octane but will be more prone to pinging on heavy load, so you may not even notice it when driving smooth.

I live in Chile, South América. We have 93, 95, 98 octane unleaded gas all over the country. Have traveled in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina and no problem with gas. In Peru no problem y big cities and downtown of small towns. In Bolivia is a little more difficult, but you can get the proper gas.
In general terms, no problems in South America in most of the countries.

A number of bikes are living south of the US border and we've had many members visit. You can take little bottles of octane booster as insurance but you probably won't need it.

Its actually the US which has the poor gas till you are in the true boonies, because ours has alcohol.
