I took my ST for its 600 mile service yesterday and they also did the fuel pump O Ring recall. I did not even know about this but glad they did it while I was there. Dont know if its just me but the bike performed so much better after the first service. I actually had 755 miles when I took it in so only less than 200 miles to go before i can rev freely. Bike is incredible. Its been raining here so I told them not to bother washing it as I was going to ride in the wet anyway.

The o-ring has nothing to do with how the bike runs, it's to prevent fuel leaking from the tank over the engine.

More likely for you is that the Tenere comes into its' own and changes at about 1,000-1,500 miles.

Enjoy!

You may rev freely from day one. The only thing the manual says about break-in is that you should avoid prolonged operation at or above certain rpm until you reach certain mileage thresholds. ::008::

They probably tweeked the throttle bodies while they where in there. They need it at least once after things have settled in.

Yep, just wait, it takes about 6k miles to fully break in. Break in is not a big deal, just dont ride it at one rpm for any length of time, lug the engine, or hammer the throttle. I break mine in using the FULL rev range, nice easy exceleration all the way to full throttle, and smooth down shifting, no or very limited freeway riding. Not scientific and personal but I try to not run it at any one RPM for any longer than 15-20 minutes. I have never had a problem. Have fun and enjoy your breaking period.

Old thread I know. Does anyone know when the o ring recall ended and new production fixed the problem? I have a 2012 that I just bought new from the dealer 2 weeks ago. Is there a VIN# resource? TIA

Your dealer should be able to run the vin to see if, one; it's on the list, and two; if it's been corrected.

I never took mine in for the recall. It doesn't leak and I don't see the need.
