Many months ago I looked at the World Cross front fender and saw that Yamaha studio cut the sides and front lip off the factory fender for more clearance. I have never read or spoke to anyone that has brought this up. It gives about 1/2" more clearance for knob tires and or mud. Has anyone seen this or tried it? Anyone can go look at the World Tour and see that it started at as stock front fender but its not 100% stock, its been trimmed on..... Anyone thinking of doing this mod in the future? If so lets see it.....

Hmm yeah I see what you mean - they removed the "lip" at the front, and down the sides a little. Shouldn't be too hard to do. Go for it mate!

I did not see that before. I like the looks and your right Jaxon, it would work better with the 60's. ;D

As soon as my stock rear is gone I am placing an order.

I have what might be a good winter project for someone who is a fabricator (ahem, cough, cough). Perhaps build and sell a kit to raise the front fender 'bout an inch or so. ::012::

Looking at it... We have it drawn up... with the parts involved trying to get the price down....

Mate, why not use the stock fender like on the WorldCrosser? Buy one, two or three, depending on demand, modify them, then do an exchange service. If someone sends you a scratched up fender, they get the same one back, they just have to wait a bit. At the same time maybe elongate the mounting holes? Between the trim and moving up by 1/2" (?) you should be able to get an inch more clearance under the fender, without significantly changing the looks?

Sure you could build a replacement fender with all the brackets etc, but that's going to be a lot more expensive right?

For sure I can mod the fender for a reasonable price. You guy are about to see something really cool I did for a customer here on this forum that was a MOD piece. Im sure he wants to show it off..... I can do a World Cross fender for anyone and it would look killer !
You cant really change the hole position with out sacrificing strength in the fender. And another cost consideration is if you physically raise the front fender at all you will need to replace the cross over brake line going to the other side. I have brake lines that can be custom made and we can offer any number of solutions. The very cool idea we are working on is bullet proof and killer, and BUILT RIGHT ! Send me your fender, Ill give you World Cross. ! ! ::013::

If I were going to mod the fender, one of the first things to go, would bet the cross over brake line. Running two brake lines from the top just makes more sense to me.. jmho

A couple days ago everyone could not understand why I did not see need for a semi truck mudflap extension on the front fender, now we are going to cut material off the fender? :)) Anything to not be stock.
Ron,

all depends what kind of riding you want to do. If only road and smooth dirt, then no problem leave the mudguard as is. But if the going gets rough and you encounter rocks or mud that can block up the front wheel... well, at best it's a hassle, at worst a disaster...

...like this...

I thought Wasp was onto something when he posted this picture over on that other site some time ago. Haven't heard if he's carried through with development or not. I think it looks pretty trick.
