Well..I figured I'd throw this on the forum to see if there was any interest. Many of you may have read that I am keeping my Tenere. I'm going to beef it up for some mild off road duty so the KLR, or "thumpy" as she is known, needs to find a new home. It's an awful lot of bike for the money so shoot me a PM if there is any interest....
Here's how this story goes...up for sale is my well farkled, ridiculously maintained, trusty companion - KLR 650
$3,995 or best reasonable offer
30,500 miles
Located between Lancaster & Reading, Pennsylvania
Original owner. Purchased in 2010 as a 2009 leftover
Exceptionally maintained, all maintenance performed by owner
Detailed service records available, clear/clean title in my possession
The details:
The oil/filter was changed every 2k miles with Rotella. Air filter cleaned every 2k miles
Fresh valve check and oil change, valves checked/adjusted four times during its life
Chain & both sprockets replaced 3,500 miles ago
Heidenau K60 Tires, @3,600 miles - lots of life left
Sale includes new Dunlop 606 front and 50% used Dunlop 606 rear
Coolant and brake fluid recently changed
Swingarm greased 5,500 miles ago
Lots of life left in front & rear brake pads - EBC
16T front sproket - Nice balance for off road and street use
Deka sealed battery - 2 years old
Thermo-Bob Installed
Eagle Mike Doohickey upgrade done with Torsion spring
The bike has the following extras:
Vance & Hines XCR exhaust
Carb jetted 142.5 main, slide drilled, KLX needle, Kouba fuel screw, Uni air filter
Happy Trails crash bars, skid plate and engine guard/highway pegs
Fully upgraded suspension - Progressive Front springs and Race Tech rear spring
Zero Gravity Sport Touring Windscreen (original screen included)
Sargent seat (best seat I've had on any motorcycle), stock seat also included
D&D HID Headlights
Barkbuster Storm handguards
Oxford Heated grips
StLun Top Box
RAM ball mount for GPS
ZRX mirrors (less vibration - better view)
Fuse block, gerbings and battery tender leads
Probably forgetting a few small doo-dads but i'm sure you get the idea..she's loaded up.
The bike runs very well and was over-maintained to last a very long time.
It will use oil periodically. The usage was never enough to be a problem. Just top it off and go.
I would hop on it and go anywhere today. Down the street or to another country.
There is a crack in the upper flat fairing. Common issue on these bikes.
Otherwise, normal scuffs and marks for a KLR used both on and offroad. Down a few times offroad..minor scuffs here and there.
Here are a few pictures of the bike in her natural elements
