I haven’t run any ethanol-free gas, but the government is looking to up the 10% limit to 15% (E15). There was enough push back that they’re looking at that a little closer (AMA Alert), but it really comes down to politics and subsidies and all that crap. If I had to use ethanol free gas it would be a hassle unless it became more widely available. I’ve seen it at some stations in my travels…usually hidden in the back or on the side and you need to get the attendant to turn the pump on or something like that. Usually.
A quick search shows ethanol-free gas to be $0.15 to $0.20 higher than the equivalent E10 grade, but reports are that you get around 10% better gas mileage.
