hey all… have been an fjr owner since 04…have had 3 and still have one…an 06 with 85000 km. I just sold fjr #2 with 165000 km to get a new super ten in sept,,, just in time to ride it south from saskatchewan to arizona. Love the change in ride, power, versatility etc…. tho still have one fjr at home here to enjoy. Thought it might fit the bill for something diff after a demo ride . So far loving it…. will be back in Az in 2 wk to rack up some winter miles and do some off road playing ( which the fjr doesn't suit). Maybe a couple more rides up here in canada on the fjr before snow hits and stays ( twice already) . The super ten should be great if it continues with the usual yamaha reliability which I have been used to for a long time .(going back to my 88 fj1200). I also have two kaw klrs, still have my old cbx honda and several suzukis. Been on two wheels for 45 years….still best fun available ::012::

I think you will love the Tenere. There is a lot of Tenere / FJR owners here and I think they make great stable mates if a person can swing two touring bikes. Their duties overlap in some respects but I think they are distinct enough to warrant having both in the garage. At first I was a little apprehensive to take the big Tenere off road since I had no dirt experience so last year I bought an XR650L. After getting a little dirt experience I took the Tenere over some Colorado passes and trails this summer. I was simply amazed at how agile and easy the Tenere was to ride in rocky, steep, off road situations. Enjoy the Tenere!

Welcome from another FJR/Tenere owner!

Both (as you know) are great bikes, reliable as a stone and run for many thousands of miles with normal maintenance. The Tenere is a wonderful stablemate to the FJR, lets you do those roads where the street-tire FJR says I'm done. I've got my Tenere is set up and use it for rougher road touring...it's taken me to BC & AK and many points in between.

Have fun in AZ!

::004:: from an FJR/S10 Owner in the UK.

Previously I was a K1600GTSE/S10 owner, but after a whole host of reliability issues with the BMW, I exchanged it for a 2014 FJR AE. Two years in now & we haven't looked back - between them they cover a whole host if roles & both have proved utterly reliable.

I also came from a 89 fj12 to 3 FJRs and loved all of them ,minus the heat of the 04.Bought a 13 Tenere and rode it most of the time.Sold my fjr and miss that grunt now and then, but very happy with my Tenere.A much better fit for me ,and a great sport/tour as well.

I wanted to love the FJR so bad, but then I went to sit on one, and it felt so cramped compared to the S10 that I just couldn't commit to making the transition. Maybe it would just have taken some getting used to after the very upright seating position on the S10, but I didn't want to gamble the $15,000 on a "maybe".

But damn, I still love that FJR.

RC,

Your right. I've owned two FJR's and there is no comparison on leg room. Especially if you have old stiff knees like me. I think the air is smother without having a barn door screen and once I get a different seat I think the S10 will top it in every way but horsepower.

ha….now a reply to my own thread. Nailed a deer with my remaining fjr 3 weeks ago ??? ….its written off….maybe time for something different rather than a 4th fjr. so my super t now has an fj09 as a sister bike (and the Bandit). Road tests and a demo ride made the choice for me. Too late in the season here in saskatchewan to even ride the new kid….oh well, back to arizona in 3 weeks to ride the super t for 3 weeks….cant wait. Sleds are good here usually…but no snow yet and too cold even for electric gear…next week worse….gotta get south
