Just about to do this and wondered if disconnecting the terminals for the few moments it takes to install the Optimate lead will re-set clocks etc etc? If so, is that a problem easily rectified?

I did the same last week with a batteryminder and had to reset the clock. The trip mileage zeroed out as well but no problems otherwise.

Just use a jumper wire between the battery post and cables and nothing will have to be reset. I would hook the hot wire up at the solenoid and the ground wire to the frame and not have to mess with any wires cluttering up the battery post.

One of the few things the owner's manual tells ya, how to set the clock. ::008::

I like the solenoid connection idea. Not sure if I remember exactly where it is? Any handy photos?

Anyone who lives in a Daylight Saving timezone has the opportunity to reset the clock twice a year.
