Agree Richard been busy with my ongoing Z1000 classic restoration which seems to absorb the bulk of my spare time and cash this past few weeks.

Since photographing the spot lamp installation I have discovered an issue,(or was it an oversight on my part) something just didn’t look right when viewed from the front, I got the tape measure out found that Yamaha had made the two front fixing points for the plastic protection/sliders non symmetrical, the off-side mount sits forward and further out from the centre line, sliding the off-side lamp in along the mounting bar 20mm I now have them both equidistant from the centre line but it is still a bit further forward than the near-side lamp, its difficult to notice this difference without looking hard, I am not sure if I can live with the slight miss alignment, I had been considering a set of AltRider crash bars but not sure if they have an ideal place to mount a pair of lamps. Anyone on here got lamps mounted on AltRider bars?

Nice. But the two rubber vent hoses should go behind the plastic cover and not through it. They will then emerge at the bottom far end of it and be hardly conspicuous :) .

You are right on that point sir thank you, that's my fault I had them out of the clip held back out of the way whilst applying a dose of ACF50 yesterday, not re routed them correctly.

The wifey's comfort mod question... Who makes them and are they specific to the Super Tenere?

I had them shipped to me from your side of the pond, search for motorcycle Larry Yamaha FJR pillion footrest extension, once you get them all you need to do is drill out the hole where the mount pin fits (the FJR has a smaller pin/bolt) took me 90 seconds per side, less than 5 minutes per side to install. This mod helps move her feet away from the Yamaha boxes as she likes to be able to place the ball of her foot on the pillion rest from time to time.

That's nuts.

If you fitted the lights to see down the road at night, then a slight difference won't affect the performance.

If you fitted the lights to be seen by other road users, then a slight difference won't detrimentally affect the performance.

If you fitted the lights just so that people can look very closely at your bike and say "Ooooh. Nice lights", just park it on a slope and even those people won't notice. But you will be able to see and/or be seen, which surely - surely - was the real purpose in fitting the lights.

ps. Never buy a BMW if asymmetry of lights gets you upset. BMW do that sh*t on purpose.
