After having several touring bikes with locking hardcases (R1150GS, FJR, C-14) I decided I wanted to try something different on the S-10. I'm not real crazy about the looks of the square box panniers & since we are mainly day-trippers we didn't need the bulk & width of the larger bags. Besides locking saddlebags seemed to be a constant unlock/lock, searching for the key, & were contantly scuffed by boot marks.

I decided on Givi quick detach hardbag mounts in case the need for hardbags were to arise. So I mounted the Givi mounts in about 15 minutes & attached the Firstgear Silverstone soft saddlebags to the racks. I ran the two connecting straps under my wifes seat & then secured the bags on the racks with bunge cords. I think the look suits the bike well. It all comes off in minutes.

After three days of running up & down the Oregon coast & in and out of the bags constantly we were amazed how functional they were. There are smaller side compartments for things you need to access easily like sunglassed, chapstick, etc. The bags are around 30 liters in size but expand to 40 liters with a slide of a zipper. They have raincovers & shoulder straps included with each bag. The are sturdy, rigid, & have easy to use large zippers.

I got the bags new off of eBay for $110.00 shipped & the Givi mounts were $206.00. Not bad for saddlebags.
