I couldn't stand it any longer.......... Eight weeks ago today I took a bad tumble down my basement stairs and broke my wrist. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=523.0.

Today, I suited up in my "Stich", boots, gloves and helmet (ATGATT) and headed out for a short ride on my FJR. It felt WONDERFUL!!! The strength is not there in my right wrist and I doubt I could hold the bike up if I went very far off center to the right, but just "normal" riding for about 6 miles felt good. VERY good!!!! After I got home, it was all I could do to get the bike back on the center stand - but I did it after a couple tries.

Am I ready to start out on a 500 mile day? No, but give me a little while longer and I will be!!!! ;D

Thanks Vince! My goal had been to ride by April 15, but just finished my basement update project and decided I couldn't wait any longer. I have several MC trips coming up and the sooner I feel comfortable again on the bike - the better! Woo Hoo!!!

You couldn't ask for better physical therapy that's for sure. I guess most likey you will riding the FJR on those trips so it's best to get in the saddle and ease back into it. Does the doc know you went out??

Good News.

Maybe you can wear one of those Wrist supports you can buy at the local pharmacy -
They're soft enough that they don't restrict your movement very much, but they do add some support.

Keep up the good work. ;D ;D

No, but I just got home from therapy and I let my therapist know. She was fine with it.

I have a brace that they gave me for when I was doing anything strenuous. I may give it a try, unless it limits my wrist (throttle) action too much.

Thanks!! It has gone surprisingly fast for me as well, but then I have been very busy with my basement project which helped "distract" me!

Fantastic! I am envious. Don't push that wrist too hard, yet. You'll need it to be nice and strong to pull that new S10 into a wheelie. ;D

Good point about the wheelie!!!

I told my wife that I had taken a ride in the morning while she was at work. Later in the afternoon she must have sensed that my spirits were MUCH improved as she asked me "When you going to take another ride?" Gotta love 'em!!! ;)

Gotta love that first ride back after injury! I broke my left wrist (had much the same hardware, and also was in it for eight weeks); as soon as I could, I rode my bike to physical therapy! I think it helped with my recovery.

Yes, it was an awesome ride. Today my wrist is a little sore - not sure if it is from getting the bike on the center stand or perhaps a little more intense therapy yesterday. It always is a little "tight" first thing in the morning, so hopefully it will loosen up as the day progresses.
