1} What is the best throttle lock that will fit with the stock hand guards ?

2} Is there a tank bag that seems to work the best with the Super Ten tank and ring....as affordable as possible?

3} What MANDATORY mods are needed...IE charcoal can removal, vent line re-route, pipe uncork, throttle limiter gadget, etc...?

4} I have seen the seat lowering set up, as well as the mod to rock the seat down in the back, but, is there a way to raise the front to level it rather than lower the back, I would like the seat a bit taller but do not want to have it all re built yet?

5} Is there a mod to get the front turn signals more stable, they seem a bit shaky ?

Thanks for any links or advice in advance.

First, congrats on your new bike. I think the white is the best looking, by I got the faster one - blue :D

Lots of questions = many answers (and opinions, which you know, are like ????)
The best way to search forums is use Google. Copy this- site:www.yamahasupertenere.com -then add a search term.

Like this - site:www.yamahasupertenere.com throttle lock.

Throttle Lock: I opted for the cheap Vista Cruise at California Sport Tour.

Tank Bag: I use the Bags Connection "City" tank bag with an electrified tank ring from Twisted Throttle.

Mandatory Mods: Whatever your wallet can afford.
I would suggest to ride it and get your ergonomics worked out. Get the sag adjusted properly then dial in the headlight. After that, well, it can get expensive! I bought these levers from this company http://shop.the2wheels.com/Racing-Levers-Set-Adjustable_c13.htm 'cause the stock ones wouldn't adjust as close as I needed them. I've done wind screen, handle bars, Rox risers, longer lines, aux lighting (Onyx light bar from Baja Designs in San Marcos), horn, luggage, stiffer front and rear springs, and a aux power center.
I haven't done any of the performance mods (header, muffler, reflash). I'm saving up for suspension upgrades.
BTW, taking out the charcoal canister will not gain you anything except about losing a couple of pounds of weight.

Seat: Mine's custom - still don't like. Thinking of giving Seat Concepts in Hemet a try.

Shaky bits: All the stuff has rubber isolators and they do shake. Never had a problem.

Farkle-its is addictive. Have fun ::001::

There are lots of 'shaky bits' on the bike. You want them that way for when you ride off-road. Stabilize them and they break when the road gets rough.

I've been shopping, looking and researching tank bags since September. Lots of good possibilities, but most are more than I want to pay at the moment. I've ordered a Nelson-Rigg CL-1050....it retails for around $75 but can be found for much less. Good reputable company so we'll see how it works. Figure if it doesn't fit right or have the capacity I'm looking for, I can send it back and spend double the price for a Wolfman bag.

From my seat of the pants, I don't think there is a need to change exhaust systems, remove emissions stuff, etc. Great, solid bike. Just ride and add things as you feel the need.

+1 on the "City" tankbag. Ideal for the bike. The gas cap ring mount is a real good idea.

You may wish to get something to protect the tank, as the bag kisses it from time to time. I went to www.Yamahagenuineparts.com and bought the "Tenere Dude" that Yamaha sells, but not here in the USA. (Strange, huh?) It is what I'm using for an Avatar at the moment. Look under Super Tenere accessories, they sell it there. There's also some people here that sell it. I suggest Jaxon at www.rideonadv.com. He's Tabasco on here.

guy55, that is funny. That was the question I forgot to ask, where do I get the Dakar with round eyeballs logo....

Levers are great for me so far. Bike is almost not tall enough, I wish the seat were taller for a bit more leg room, I can sit at a light flat footed with a small bend in my knees.

I do not plan on doing anything mechanical until at least after my first service....and even then nothing major. I don't want to jeopardize my warranty. It just seems that most bikes I have owned had a list of things that HAD to be done to make it even rideable....but most of those were carbureted and once smog crap hit bikes you had to majorly change stuff to get them to even run decent. My last KTM 530 had to get rejetted or it just would not run and over heated a lot. Glad there is not any big need.

Thanks for the heads up on the 2 tank bags, I will look at them.

Does anyone have a set of stock Yamaha boxes on their Super Ten? I want to get the total width of the back of the bike from outside edge of the boxes to the other outside ....total back width at the widest point. Please.

Thanks for the help ::003::

Actually, I believe it represents a Toureg tribesman.

I called Yamaha USA and they wouldn't even discuss selling it here. You would think they would want our money, but I had to send it to the Canadians.

I'm pretty sure Jaxon sells them here.

Designed to be shaky. Specifically for the 1000's of Km of washboard roads they install in Oz and Sth Africa.

Just helps keep things less "KTM"

There's also the shaky tail section and instrument cluster. I believe there is even more rubber in the updated model.

Pretty soon Harley will sue them for IP infringements.

My $0.02.... unless you are jumping right into serious offroading or came from a high performance bike that might leave you underwhelmed...

the only two things that you need are gas money and a strong right wrist.

Ride the shit out of that thing and then figure out what you "need"

I bought my bike used with a few farkles and only armored her up for the offroad riding I prefer. I have done NONE of the performance upgrades that you hear so much about here and the SuperTen never ceases to carve a bulletproof grin on my face every time I ride her.

+1
Performance wise, other than the fuse in the clutch switch, mine is completely stock. I would suggest some sort of bash plate. It is tempting to go off road when you get it, but that plastic thing is fairly useless. Power wise, it is more than enough. After break in and such, it will become apparent what you really need to do, as you decide how and where you're going to use it. No need for certain things if you're not doing those things. Keeps the buyer's remorse and spendy mistakes to a minimum as well.

Must have? A skid plate that doesn't mount to the sump!

You can pull the charcoal canister if you want, (and have a CA model), but the only thing it gets you is knowing it won't fill with gas when the bike lays on its side.

There is a very nice throttle lock, (Dallara knows the one), that 's probably the best, but I use the cheap VistaCruise and it works fine for me.

The factory boxes are plastic. Your call.

Kaoko is the throttle lock which works with the hand guards. From Twisted Throttle. Tank bag, the city is Great with lock ring, that too from Twisted Throttle. Um, just do the clutch jumper, and a good TB sync here and there and it will help things. Many have also increased the CO settings to +6 to +10 range, then go and adjust the TB again after. This bit will help some of the off idle stumble. Search TB SYnc or something here and a picture page demo will come up.
Enjoy this ride, and ride the hell out of it. It does loosen up better after 10k miles, and even more after that. This Fricking thing is AWESOME!!

The throttle lock Eric was referring to is the Excel Throttle Control. Works perfectly, pricy, but worth it. I use mine all the time.

Thanks AVGeek, I was drawing a blank on the name, and that is the one I was thinking about.

On the off idle stumble, you might consider checking the throttle body sync, then just riding it to see if it's an issue for you. And do some reading on the CJM (clutch jumper mod), before you try it so you understand what it does and doesn't do. :'( ::024::

+1....I tried several cruise controls and they all worked fine, but I kept going back to the Vista Cruise that I've been using for 20+ years. It works great and is off and on with the flick of you thumb. I carry one of the clamp on types in the bags for a back up.

I have the stock boxes and love them. I don't do 'around the world' tours, but do ride fairly great distances, sometimes on unpaved roads. They are plastic, but sturdy enough for daily use (as long as you aren't expecting them to serve as crash bars when you go down!). Total width from outer edge to outer edge is 34 1/4 inches.
