well i finally picked the bike up yesterday and rode the 140 miles home.
all i can say this is a fantastic piece of machinery.the bike feels so light when on the move ,everything just feels right.
i'm not intending to go serious off roading on it like some of you guys,so i'm very happy with the standard performance.....for now

the only niggle i can find at present which really isnt a problem is that the throttle cable obscures the lower right side of the dash !!!
i'm sure i can live with that.
looking forward to putting some miles on it when the weather is better,in the mean time i'm going to trawl through all the posts on here

is white the better colour ???? ::015::

Welcome webbed ! Your going to like your new bike. ::022::

Try routing your throttle cable behind the mirror stanchion and the dash should come into full view...

::004:: Welcome from Cork, Éire. White, although favoured by some is the slow model. Black is the fast one. ::014:: ::013::

Congrats on the new bike. There's a easy fix to the cable/instrument interference problem involving a long tie-wrap and some plastic tubing. I'd find it on here for you, but I'm tired of battling the crappy search function with this forum's BB software, so I'll leave this as an exercise to the reader.

My VERY FIRST modification was at the Yamaha Dealership before rode away was to zip tie it to the handlebar. Been there for over a year now. I have no idea how people can ride with the display obstructed. It drove me nuts!

Only thing that drove me nuts was the restrictions in 2nd / 3rd gear, I have no issues with cable routing.

yea i found the throttle cable just covered the clock on bottom of the dash ..so .. i fastened a very small tie wrap around the cables to hold them together and it just held the top cable out of the way

Cable tie seems the logical answer...Thanks

Not noticed any restriction that im aware of
Is it obvious or not until you do the clutch mod

Depends how you ride, in 1st - 3rd there is a big hole in the power between 2k and 5k, for example at 40mph in 3rd the bike is about 30% down on power compared to a flashed motor, I noticed it when hooking second early and rolling on (like when pulling away two-up) or exiting roundabouts, you open the throttle and it just seems to hesitate a bit - I can only imagine it would be horrible on Alpine switchbacks.

I have gone off the clutch mod since it was discovered what else it does - worth trying to feel the difference in low down, but I would advise the Flash so you know the fuelling and ignition is good at all combinations of gears / throttle / rpm.

I used Race Engineering in Essex for an ECU-U flash, they have done a fair few S10's now, a mate of mine had his done there yesterday and I was about the 3rd one they did way back around April time.

Lookup posts on Flash Reviews, it makes a huge difference, really worth the expense if your gonna keep the bike for more than a year or so.

+1 on the ECU reflash. I had mine done earlier this year by Race Engineering too. I found the difference in how the bike pulls to be really noticeable from 3,000 - 3,500 rpm in the first three gears. It also goes on to make the engine feel less hesitant at low speed and much stronger in its overall throttle response. Either that or its that i'm just opening the throttle wider to surf the wave of torque. ::26::
