Bought a used Bushtec trailer awhile back. Rebuilt the chassis and color matched the paint to the bike. Towed it around a little today and its working great!

Can we get more details on the hitch?

Setup looks great!

I made a couple of the hitches. Jaxon at Ride On bent the hoops for me. They attach at the footpeg mounts and at rear grab hanlle mount. And a picture of the trailer before the rework.

Pretty impressive. It will be interesting to see if any manufacturers think there will be a market for designing a hitch for the s10. I've used one on my k1200lt and had no problems. now I want to see if the Tenere can handle pulling a trailer as well.

The Tenere is pulling the trailer just fine. I give credit to Bushtec for the suspension setup on their trailers making it tow well. Was on some rough roads this week with it and each time I hit a bump large enough to feel it on the bike I kept waiting to feel the trailer hit them and never did.
BTW I am a manufacturer and I did design and make a hitch for the s10. :)

Nice work.

I see you are not set up for a passenger. Any thoughts on whether the set up would mostly work if leaving the bike intact for a passenger?

No reason it would not work with all passenger parts on bike. Everything is is below or behind passenger parts that are removed from my bike.

I am not a fan of pulling a trailer, but on my trip to Alaska I saw lots of trailers, none pulled by a S10 tho. The Alaska highway has big heaves and potholes plus lots of gravel portions, they had to slow to like 70 kph where I was going 90 - 110. Nice job on your build.

Cousin and I are planing a 6 month long ride. Using the trailers to haul some creture comforts. Figure there may be times when we park the trailers for awhile and rough it. Alaska may be one of those times.

I held my breath opening this link, wondering why anybody would want to tow their ST around on trailer. You were given the benefit of the doubt and did not disappoint. Well done on the trailer!!! It looks great!!

BTW I am a manufacturer and I did design and make a hitch for the s10.

So as a designer, I'm figuring you made it specific for the height of the Bushtec. How difficult would it be to modify something like this to fit a regular ball hitch for an escapade trailer??

Most of the change to the hitch would be in the area of the ball. Would not be much different to accommodate a regular ball. You are correct that this hitch was made specificaly for the Bushtec pin.

The hitch works nicely with a standard ball on it......

Very nice!
I have a little HF trailer that takes a ball hitch, but I cannot find a hitch for my Tenere anywhere on the internet.
Would you care to share the plans ( measurements) for the hitch you have, or do you know of another hitch made for the Tenere?
I don't have a welder, but of course I can find a fabricator to weld it up.
Thanks very much!

Hey Tom, my hitch was built/installed by Z06, he's local to me in FL. As far as durability of the hitch, I've put over 1000 miles on the trailer so far and it's been through deals gap/US129, moonshiner 28, rattlesnake 209 and through the Pisgah forest on 215 and 276. Very happy with the hitch. Easily taken on/off as well. Contact Z06 for more info.

Hey Sumo, your hitch appears to be set up differently then Z06s'. I've PM'd him but was wondering if you could post a few more detailed photos of the ball section. I'd also like to see where it attches to the foot pegs a little closer if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks!

Z06 has the bushtec set up, where I have the standard ball...

Bottom 2 pics are both pegs from underneath.

I have a 1,000lb spring on the stock shock which ended up working well for trailer duty, I use about 40lbs of tongue weight and the trailer pulls without issue at sustained highway speeds....10hrs worth so far.
