Hi all,
After waiting nearly 6 months for the right S10 to come up..I’ve finally got the bike I wanted.
A low milage, gen 2 in blue (would prefer the Yellow if it was available in the UK) full dealer service history, nice set of Givi panniers included. Was holding out for a private sale hoping to get a bit more for the money but a can tell you very few bikers who own a Super Tenere don’t let go of them, always a good sign! Got a decent price from a dealer.
Will put a few “essentials” on it over the next few weeks, rear hugger, front fender extender, front fork protector etc Planning on gettting the ECU flashed soon as well, would like to know how the bike runs without it first so I can see the change in a flashed ECU, anything else you guys would recommend?
I owned a Moto Guzzi Stelvio before, loved owning it, you did feel different knowing it was a Guzzi and there was hardly any of them on the road so you did feel a bit special, it looked great but I just didn’t have that trust in it as you should with a bike if you’re going touring, had planned to take it around the UK, had lots of niggley problems with it, sad to see it go but this bike is 10 times better.
Plan is to take it up to Scotland later in the year, can’t wait, hope to see some of you on the road!

Hey Congrats! I'm waiting for my low miles 17 to arrive. Supposed to be this week. I have my 17 Stelvio for sale. It'll be interesting to compare notes with you after we've been on the Super Tenere for a while!!! My Tenere is bone stock so I've gathered up AltRider crash bars and skid plate. SW Motech Pannier rack for my Mosko Moto Panniers. Have a set of Mitas E-07's for it too. Good luck with yours and enjoy!!!

Welcome

That looks like a really well cared for bike with some very good extras. They are VERY reliable machines

I think the S10 is a bit of a Marmite bike. People who buy then tend to get rid very quickly or keep them for a very long time. I'm in the latter group

Take time to get to know it and I'm sure you'll love it

Congratulations! I have had my 17 reg bike 2.5 years, been around northern and Eastern Europe twice and done the 4 points of UK, (furthest north, south, east and west mainland U.K.) in September 2019. I tour solo because Mrs LongdogCymru featured 3 vertebrae a few years ago. To be honest, I have considered downsizing to a Tracer 900 but......! Well exact time I ride it I wonder why I have even thought about changing it! I will be interested to hear from you when you have it flashed. By the way, is yours an ES model? Mine is not.

Congrats on the new bike, looking good! While we’re stuck in lockdown, it might be worth giving it a bit of protection with a coating of ACF50.

Enjoy.

Thanks all,
in reply to Longdog it’s the Z model, kept convincing myself that I needed the ZE model purely on the fact that it’s the “top of the range” but the only real difference is the electronic adjustable suspension which I would probably never touch anyway as I have no plans to go off road or go 2 up touring, the bike does have aftermarket Oxford heated grips so there’s no real difference, have ordered the right side panel just below the rear seat which I always find a bit strange they never put that on the Z model but on the ZE
Like a kid with a new toy I’ll be looking after it particularly as I can’t really go anywhere due to lockdown and as I’m still on furlough I will have plenty of time to take it a part, clean it and smother it with ACF50!
one quick question (the first of many in the next few weeks!).... I’d like some lower crash bars fitted, can I get them separate and add them to the ones that are already on the bike or do I have to get a new set?

looks like you have altrider crash bars on good kit but if you want to protect lower than that, you,ll have to take off and buy different

as i,ve never and pretty sure there is nothing that,ll fit lower with altrider still in place, if your only road riding i would not bother those altrider are good on there own

I have those Altrider bars and just before Christmas a tit in a car tapped me from behind when he forgot to stop and the bike fell on its right hand side leaving me still standing. After I stopped him grabbing the wrong bit and possibly pulling it off, we lifted the bike up and went round the corner to look at the damage. I swear apart from a very small mark on the crash bar itself, nothing else seems to have actually touched the road, not even the handlebar.

Nice to know I’ve got a decent set of bars already on the bike! Do you know if Altrider do a lower crash bar set that would fit Along with the upper?

heated grips, LED indicators, bigger rear seat?
Those too, but my meaning was "don't be too sure you won't use the e-suspension that frequently." I didn't think I was going to use cruise very often. Ended up using it daily. The e-suspension isn't just handy for pre-load. It's better than sliced bread when the road surface/condition changes, and you can adjust as needed.

The only lower protection would be a bash plate I would have thought. I have ordered the Altrider bash plate, no idea when it will turn up though. I want it mainly for protection of the oil filter at the front of the engine if I ride up a stony trail.

I have Givi crash bars on mine and although they are not the same as yours, they 'protect' the same area

Crash Bars & Tank Pads.jpg

When I was knocked off my previous S10 in a 'Sorry mate I didn't see you' scenario the Givi bars on the right hand side struck the side of the car and then the tarmac. Although the right bar was 'sacrificed' the bike was undamaged except for a few light scratches.

I agree with bimota that those bars will be good on their own if you only intend to ride on the road

these are the altrider crash bars the lowers are the ones you already have like mine you can add uppers to them that give this look i also have altrider sump guard YOU certainly don,t need any more protection lolIMG_20201215_121624384_HDR.jpgIMG_20201215_122001458_HDR.jpgIMG_20201127_135928403.jpg
