Enjoy your new ride, RonH and nice color. I've not seen that blue out in the wild yet.

Since you're in a new state of mind, may I suggest the Cyclops LED's to replace the anemic halogen bulbs. Easy install, relatively cheap and world's better lighting has been my experience.

Hmmmm. I don't know if I like it.

Everyone around here, especially the old ones, have established roles.
Don't go too soft on us RonH.
I'm betting you're just in your new Tenere honeymoon period? ;)

Thanks for the comments guys. Just to make it clear, my 2012 was completely stock so I can pretty much compare the two bikes as they were delivered. Even though both seats were stock Yamaha, they are not the exact same. It seems like the new seat is easier to sit on comfortably for some reason I can't really pinpoint. May just be imaginary.
I'm making a solid effort to not be the guy I used to be, always being overly opinionated about things other guys do to their motorcycles, so I promise no, (or at least very little) unnecessary unkind comments ect about mods I don't personally care for. So thanks again, and hope all enjoy the Super Tenere.
Ron, who are you, and what did you do with the Ron we all know? ::025::

Seriously, congrats on the new ride, and while the circumstances that caused you to move from the Gen 1 to Gen 2 were unfortunate, at least the outcome is positive.

Congratulations Ron! The S10 looks shatp with that new colour :)

I am also a firm believer of keeping the bike in its stock form. I may add a few accessories, but I never replace or mess with factory components or dynamics of the bike. I believe they are purpose built after much research and testing.

Happy riding!

I got a chance to ride about 100 miles today on the new bike, and can really find no faults with it. What a motorcycle! I did most my riding on 70s motorcycles, so I'm not really hard to impress I suppose, but this is one nice model of motorcycle. Thank you Yamaha!

Hummm....I have certain expectations when I see who posted that thread. I don't recognize this new guy posting as RonH. Doesn't sound like the guy I know.

Just in case you are the same RonH...congrats on the new bike. It's good to have a fellow '17 owner out there.

My wife took her first ride on her new '17 today. She's really impressed with how smooth it is. Loves the new cruise control, and generally feels like it's an upgrade from her '12. Sounds like you are also enjoying what Yamaha gave us in the new bike.

Wow, what an improvement over my 2012 which I really loved. There have been 3 or 4 years of comments, but I'll add mine. The windshield is much better without a doubt, the engine is much quieter than my 2012 ever was, even though I put in the newer tensioner and clutch basket in it. The stumble when releasing the clutch is gone, fueling works great. I only tried S setting, and it worked perfect. The suspension is far improved, and I think the traction control and ABS will be far easier to live with in everyday riding due to that. The handlebars are factory rise vs the 2012 noticably. This doesn't matter one way or the other to me personally, but the bars feel real good. Couple other things that don't make much sense is the starter seems much stronger, and the seat seems better as well, even though these items are not really published as being changed. Of course the instrumentation, the heated grips and cruise control are welcome upgrades. The color is really nice as well. I'm sure no one really cares to see a stock Super Tenere, but here is the bike. All I'm adding is a GPS.
Congratulations!
I just locked in my '17ES and now hoping to drive/ride (no local airports) in the next two weeks.
I'm looking at adding Rumbux crash engine guards soon after I get the bike.

Congratulations! I have that exact bike. All I put on was as skid plate, and minimalist crash bars. I've been reading this forum, and see the critiques, wondering if I was just not that "aware" enough to see the problems. Nope. You, going directly from Gen 1 to Gen 2, have confirmed that the bike is WAY improved. And considering that I've seen speeds that ya'll have said are not possible, I think they bumped the power output without any fanfare. And I'm sure you noticed that the paint looks MUCH better in the sunshine, than on the showroom floor.
Which crash bar and skid plate did you go for?

You'll love the bike. Congrats on being another 2017 owner. I'm still just in awe of how great a motorcycle this is. The gen1 was a great one, but the gen2 is just perfect in my mind at least.
