I've reached ~6k miles on the bike now and much of that is from commuting so my riding for much of that time has been pretty subdued except for the long trip to TN/NC/GA I did last year where it got ridden pretty hard. I haven't had much time this year to just go out and ride for the fun of it but I did today. At some point since last year, it really crept up on me, the engine finally broke in fully (or mostly) and holy cow I can't believe the difference in power from when it was new. When I get on it in first gear, that front wheel wants to come right up and it never did that before. Even in second I can feel the front getting really light. If I was a smaller guy, I'm sure it would be coming up in second too. I don't have any ECU mods, just the Akro pipe.
I had read many times on here about how the engine really perks up once broken in and I'm still surprised by the difference I've seen. For those with a '14+ wanting to flash the ECU, I'd wait until after 5-6k miles on the clock to fully evaluate the performance. I had been considering a re-flash before but not any more...now I think it's the perfect blend of grunt and giddy up. ::022::

My FJR was like that, after about 7,000 miles it really came alive! I got on it this past spring and I remember thinking "Wow! Is this my FJR?"

Looking forward to reaching that point on my 2015 ST. ::014::

Glad you're liking the bike even more now but a flash will still put it in another category. Remove gear 1-3 restrictions, reduce engine braking and smooths the power some. Not everyone needs or wants a flash (casual riders, tourers, hupermilers, etc.) but from what you posted above I think it would be the best $225 you can spend on the bike.

I was at a Romney event and popped off to a tenere rider with the flash that I too didn't
feel I needed a flash and his reply was "you haven't rode one". Never forgot that statement.
Currently at 42.000 miles, got my flash last year, got my power commander this year....he was right ::001::

I bought my '14 used this past April with 3,956 miles. I left on a cross-country trip on June 3rd and I finally got back last night. Racked up 5,632 miles total. With with a little over 9,600 I'm really enjoying the bike as is. I don't feel that I need to do any reflash.....but that's just me.

There's honestly very little information out there regarding the Reflash on gen 2 bikes. To my understanding the major restrictions on the gen 1 bikes were removed in the gen 2 models.

I wouldn't be opposed to exhaust, headers, and Reflash, but the actual user information of those doing such is limited on gen 2's.

There was one company that did these mods plus a pc v and added something like 15hp to the wheel?

All that being said, my bike is 2 months old and I've already clocked about 4300 miles on her. Gets better and better every time.

I was planning on a reflash shortly after getting it but as usual, other things have cropped up to ding my farkle fund. I'm enjoying it stock for now but still planning on a reflash down the road. At 2500 miles it's still getting smoother with the miles. Glad to know it'll get better with age (like me!)

The only reason I'd want a reflash or a power commander is to smooth out the throttle from closed in sport mode, I find it far too harsh, only 1,400 miles on so it might improve, also loving every mile I ride!
