Well, if it offers any peace of mind, my bike is 10 years old and has 96,000 miles on it. The bike lives in a pretty hot climate here in the southern US, not to mention quite a few miles ridden in the southwestern US (even hotter there). My bike continues to run as well now as it did in 2014 when I picked it up, still with the original fan motor and switch.
I have no doubt that somewhere, at some point since 2010, someone's fan motor has failed; nothing is perfect. But that's not a "thing" with this bike, and multiple members on here have way more miles on their bikes than I do with no fan issues. I've been on this forum since 2014, and while I think I can recall a post about a failed fan switch, I don't recall any where someone's fan motor itself failed unless it was the result of a crash.
You gotta do what you're comfortable with, but I think you'd be channeling a lot of energy into reinventing the wheel if you try and configure a new cooling system to replace one that works really well.
