hello all , just a quick spleen vent. ::009:: i had the dealer were in purchase my s10 fit OEM heated grip onit. now at 15000ks the r/h grip has rub through the wiring in the throttle housing, stopped working and blows the fuse. Yamaha Australia said its a spare part , you only get 30 days warranty. ??? ??? just thought the rest of you should know that Yamaha Australia is going to be very hard to deal with when in comes to warranty claims ::010:: ::002:: ::005:: and to Yamaha Australia if you are watching ( and i know you are :-*) I think its pretty poor service for a $ 450 + accessory that has a genuine defect. ::009:: ... anyone else had ay problems with the OEM heated grips ?

G' Day, cams, and welcome to the Forum. Sorry this is the topic of your first post. My OEM grips failed exactly one month ago. I'm having them replaced Tuesday. I'm not certain yet, but I think Yukon Yamaha is going good for them. In Canada, the warranty is 90 days. Even so, I am well past that. There may be a problem with these units, or the install. If anyone else has had a failure, it would be a good time to bring it up. I agree that one month, or even three months, is an inadequate warranty period for something that most people would use rarely. And it makes sense to have them installed at purchase, which is frequently spring going into summer, a time when they won't likely be used. I'll be using mine every day this time around. At least for a little while just to make sure they fail sooner rather than later, if they are going to.

Hope you can get some satisfaction.

By the way, please post under "member intros" so Forum members will find you. Good luck, and again, ::004:: . R. ::022::

Hello and welcome.. You may want to do a search on the forum for this problem. It has happened to others and it sounds like the shop that installed yours, did not do it properly.
Good Luck

I had that same problem back in November. Here is a link to the thread:

I now have 12300 miles and the problem has not resurfaced, but I have a feeling it will. Looks like a design that could be improved upon.

I'm sorry to hear about the warranty issue. Being electrically inept I had the dealer install mine when I bought the bike so they are covered for the full five years of the extended warranty. Sounds like you folks in Oz get a very different version of the warranty.

Good luck and make sure to get a little silicon grease on that cable if you replace it with another OEM one

thanks for the feed back and welcome ::008:: ::008:: I had my heated grips fitted by the dealer and Yamaha Australia is saying that it falls under the accessory/spare part warranty banner. which only gives it 30 days of cover. ::007:: ::007:: ::007:: the u.s. may be better but seeing that this part is faulty in design, you may want to check it out.
