My normal haunt is the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District with the odd trip into Wales, but recently I've been riding Lincolnshire and how I've enjoyed it... From my location the normal run into this County would be to the east coast and it's usual so called seaside attractions. ::) Mostly got rode as the crow fly's other than detouring past Cadwell park racetrack. Just come back from the coast run to watch the Sand racing at Mablethorpe and after drifting by the other local resorts (term resorts used loosely ) then rode back up deeper into the Wolds for a twighlight evening ride, finishing at the 3 Horseshoes Inn in a village called Goulceby for a camp night n the odd pop. Next morning upwards n onwards thru road after road after road of swift up n down left n rights to Market Rasen, then taking the A631 Gainsborough road for more fast carving sweepers and then finally start the dropping down to home. Fookin ace I reckon n non too far to get to. I love riding Derbyshire, but that's more about small single track roads and the like for me, but Lincolnshire or rather the Wolds is deffo going to be a new more frequent place to discover... No one ever seems to big up Lincolnshire, as much as I read, but I've deffo been lured. Always amazes me, over time, how little I've explored on my doorstep... :) Am working on it tho, especially on this awesome bike we all share the love for! ;)

I think its too late to keep it quiet now as adventurebikerider.com magazine latest issue 32 published a ride out in Lincolnshire running close to the Viking Way long distance footpath in the county!

Looks interesting as do most of their long distance footpath rides so watch out Lincolnshire here we come! :p

Ooops, by the sound of it, I ought to delete me post! ;) Actually, the Wolds are well crap n full of inbred halfwits steering combines, farm stock jaywalking the pot-holed, plod n speed trap infested half assed so-called roads n immigrants trying to hide in ya panniers when ya pull up... Stay clear guys! ::007::

Ha-ha. I'll google the touratech thing to see when it is and try to come along. Sure to be working on the Saturday but will try the Sunday. Still spend a fair bit of time in Hereford so I should be able to combine the two. Happy New Year

I have enjoyed the Wolds area too, having used Crowtree Leathers in Louth for many years (RIP Alec)

However, be warned, the local plod can get a bit heavy handed around any race day at Cadwell Park - well that A153 road from Coningsby north to the track is mighty tempting. I understand the problem, loonies racing through the villages, but I have seen some speed traps that were nothing more than fund raisers; bikes & cars being steered off road to complete the paperwork, so as not to alert others approaching the trap. Just opening up the bike 150 metres before a de-restriction sign can serve to rather spoil the day!

I just wish the tailgaters, mobile phone users/abusers & the cars/vans with only one/no working headlights were addressed with the same vigour/enthusiasm. We get plenty of sound-bites from the politicians but I see very little action. In just a short 10 mile journey last night, on country roads, we counted over a dozen cars without proper lighting - one guy, had just one dull rear light & no brake lights, yet he was still proceeding onto the unlit M1 Motorway(Freeway), pointedly ignoring my efforts to draw his attention to the issue. Sorry OP, I digress.

Ride Safe ....................... KEN

I often take a Wednesday trip over to Willingham Woods for a healthy burger on an evening! sometimes spoilt by the occasional power ranger with his froont wheel in the air but apart from that its a nice run for me, just over 100 miles each way.
