I have a '13 Super 10 with factory bags and top case. I hate that I can barely fit one helmet in the top case.

We were fully loaded on our last trip and it go too hot to wear our jackets. My wife had to hold them in her lap.

Short of Replacing the stock stuff with aftermarket, can I get some recommendations for a good tank bag. It would be nice if it would hold two jackets (with armor) and not scratch my tank. Or maybe something that would strap on to the top case, securely??

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,
dana

Get you a stretchy web netting. I use that for strapping jackets and such to the tops of my cases. Works very, very well.

The top box is particularly small. prob best to change that for something more substantial.....

::026:: I wear my Motoport mesh gear in 100+ heat. It's no less comfortable than riding in a t-shirt in that heat.

ATGATT! Too hot? Is that worse than injuries or skin grafts.
Buy new vented riding gear for yourself and your lady. Buy the best you can get. Motorport http://www.motoport.com/index.php?option=com_redshop&view=product&pid=15&cid=27&Itemid=15.
Stop riding until you can save up for it rather than not wear the gear.

Short of buying all new sets of gear.
::)

Seriously, just add loops to the tops of your panniers like these:

Use the stainless loops and hardware from a boating supply store and a dab of RTV sealant during assembly to prevent leaks. Tie down your jackets with straps and not bungies or you'll lose them.

Soo many things wrong...

It's your choice how you ride and what you wear. Experienced riders don't take off safety gear and keep riding. Look into better gear. Either vented better or mesh of high quality like the MotoPort gear, which is far and above the cheap crap you see on sale for <$200 that will shred instantly if you go down. And take a look at LDComfort under garments, their cooling methods outlined on their web site, HERE and find ways to be comfortable in hot conditions and still protect yourselves.

Hmm, if the top box is barely large enough for one helmet, it must have been empty! Givi does make top boxes large enough for two helmets, but you can also find multiple helmet hanger/lock options that are certainly cheaper than a new top box. Helmet Gardian and here is a nice thread on ADV on several other options - LINK

If you're going to put loops on the boxes, which Checkswrecks did a great job of showing and my local ACE even carries these, along with Silicone RTV, then consider spending just a little more and buying Rok Straps instead of bungie cords. (you can get them in black or neon green) They can't be lost/fall off, are much better and more versatile than bungies and will do a great job of securing what ever you want to secure. You can buy them off Amazon or from almost any motorcycle oriented business and many motorcycle dealers/shops.

Don't want to chime in with the ATGATT police , but they have a point, it is in fact cooler to keep your gear on, as this will prevent moisture loss at a high rate thus ensuring the cooling properties of, well, sweat. If it is that hot out, I personally don't ride, I'd rather be comfortable than be swathed in healing balm for 6-8 weeks while I heal from gravel rash.... at the very least. Normal programming will now resume ::013::

Don't think you would ever find a tank bag big enough to hold 2 jackets with armour.. maybe 2 windbreakers.
I have a Givi 55 liter top case that will hold 2 helmets, or a helmet, jacket, pants and gloves. I rarely open my side cases. They tent to be packed with tools, heated gear, etc.
The top case handles most of my day to day needs.
