So, after the return from the Whitehorse rally I had a bike that looked like this. Even after a good cleaning to remove the calcium chloride & mud, the pipes were still stained quite black and ugly.

Removed them and as was suggested in another post went at them with #600 then #1000 wet/dry paper to remove the heavily blackend areas.

Finished them with a bench mounted polisher using a 8 inch diameter cotton wheel and medium buffing compound. And knowing they will quickly return to their straw yellow colour in short order I doubt I'll be making this part of the regular upkeep due to the time involved. ??? It was just a little sad to see a 2012 model looking that ugly. ::007::

Well I have to say it's nice to know it can be done and how to go about it in general. Thanks.
Enjoy tose clean pipes while they last because I figure they are not going to be that way for long ::008::

Don't forget to cut your fender extender. When the front end compresses to 80% some models of bash plates catch the fender extender..

It seems there were reports of the fender extender catching on the SWMotech skidplate. I had ridden the bike quite a while with no issue with this setup before it was reported that it could catch the plate. Removed the extender and cut about 3/4 inch off just in case.
Tested the full suspension travel more than a few times on the Dalton Hwy to Prudhoe bay and no problems. ::013::
Just a heads up if anyone decides to remove the exhaust, the O2 sensors have different part numbers so good idea to mark each for its location.
