Hi Everyone

I'm relatively new to the Super Tenere and have a 2020 model.
I've just had a new MOT test and when it came out the engine warning light was on, still is. Maybe an ignorant question, but is there anything in the MOT test that would trigger this warning light

What is MOT test ? Sounds like maybe testing for pollution ? We don’t have anything like that where I live.

It's called a ministry of transport test. It's a yearly test to check it's roadworthy. I think the spin the wheels separately to test the brakes, maybe setting something off in the ecu

The wheels cannot rotate separately. The ECU takes it as a sensor failure of the wheel that is not turning... 2020, you will need a scanner to delete the fault, and if it is a ZE, you probably won't get the suspension adjustment menu (-3+3)

Thanks for the information. I thought it might be something to do with the break testing. This confirms it. Z model, so I'll get a scanner

this is what they use to test each break front and rear on the yearly MOT test, i,ve had 8 mot tests now using this rolling road to lock the breaks never had a issue with lights staying on to be honest

Thanks for the info. for sure, the warning light wasn't on before the test. The tester said it came on while he was doing the test but didnt say which part. I'll clear the code and see if anything comes on again. I've checked oil and coolant levels, all fine. Hopefully its ok now

Around here, they don't even check the brakes. But won't do the inspection if the roads are wet. o_O

every year even if its wet the wheels go into that rolling road test to see if there legal

That machine is probably a lot more accurate than some kid riding the bike(s) and checking the brakes. Cars get driven to 30mph(?) and then have to stop within a certain distance. My thoughts are that if it can't stop on wet pavement from 30mph, that a fail for tires too.

In any case, you don't need to rush to find a scanner. The check light on does not mean that you have a fault (if it were really a fault, the abs light would also be on)...what the check light on is telling you is that you have a critical fault “saved in memory”. ”….and you should check what it is about….
All fault codes are saved in memory, the simplest ones (such as disconnecting the battery) are saved but the check light does not turn on. The most critical faults (such as a rotation sensor reading failure) are also saved and the alert light turns on.

That's worrying. Will get it checked

That's why I tell you “don't worry”…… “don't rush”….we already know when and how the failure occurred….a failure that “is not a breakage”….It is simply “a numerical code.” ….you don't need to buy a u$500 scanner… . don't need to go to the technical service to erase the fault for u$300…..you just need a “friend” who has a scanner and will erase the fault….

A wheel sensor error, caused by spinning the wheels separately will cause an ABS error, not an engine fault (different warning lights). An ABS error as described would clear once the key is turned of and the bike is ridden again.

In a car, disconnecting the battery will erase the code temporarily. If there's an actual problem the light will come on again. Will that not work on the Tenere?

I could not tell you. Everything will depend on what type of memory the faults are stored in...sometimes it is like GV550 said (a couple of starts and the light goes off)...in other cases it never goes off and you have to use a scanner (or dash buttons)...From what I remember about S10 (from forum readings)... alone, it doesn't turn off
