Just had my ecu returned after a reflash and can a problem getting it back plugged in.

The bolt that holds the tray in round the back seems impossible to get at so any clues on how to get this little bugger out ??

To quote Haynes "Re-assembly is reverse of dis-assembly"

And don't you mean "get back in"

If it is the one I think you mean it is easy enough to get to with a standard Allen key, just fiddly die to limited visibility / forks get in the way a little.

How did you get it out to remove the ECU in the first place

I just tipped the tray forward and with a small screwdriver just unclipped the connectors, not possible on return.

It's actually quite accessible with a standard Allen key if you turn the bars round so that the fork leg is out of the way and use a light or a torch. it's not as difficult as people make out. Then you just unscrew it and it makes the whole job so much easier.

Got it folks, wasn't aware how much access you can get once you've removed the 3 main bolts and push the tray forward, out shortly for a test ride to see if my money has been well spent ::013::

CJS racing in the UK.

Took it out for a brief ride and a considerable difference in low gears on t mode and fair bit gruntier (is that a real word ?) But was too short of a run to give a full account of but feels better and with clutch mod removed puts me more at ease than concerning myself if I'm damaging the engine.

Three main bolts? I think the only bolts I removed are the ones holding the top plastic side cover in place. The part that has all the relays hanging off it is held in place with two push rivets and the single bolt that you get at from the back. What are the three main bolts that you are referring to?

Have you guys seen the thread about Velox Racing? Their flash is much cheaper :)

Akro can.

As for the three bolts, they are the ones holding in the main black tray with all the electrics on, remove them, and from between the forks you can push the tray forward and gain easy access to remove that bolt which then allows you to fish down and re connect the ecu connectors.

As for velox, no idea what they are charging but by modern day standards, £150 for a reflash is fairly resonable I think.

Interesting, I don't have three bolts holding the black tray in. There are just two plastic push rivets and the offending bolt that you get to from the back. Once removed, there is no fishing down as such because you have clear access to the bottom of the ECU where the plugs go in.

Velox reflash was also £150. Others charge as much as £300-£350 for a reflash.

You never read the first reply in that topic did you.
Yes, I read it but as the 'difficult' bolt was so easily accessible from the back I didn't have to take out the three bolts for the other tray.

Money for old rope just to bang on a generic flash once r&d costs are covered. I think many now just buy an ft harness and have no r&d just a few hundred quid for harness.

Makes £425 for my ride in / ride out custom flash look cheap, it was on the synod for about 5 hours, flashed a load of times and required a £20k dyno and a day of a skilled tuners time.
