Anyone here do the ECU unleashed remapping on a 2014+ S10 with stock exhaust muffler and like the results?

Eventually I may buy a slip-on muffler later on (maybe) but right now I'm considering doing the ECU unleashed remap and trying it with the stock exhaust to take the bike a bit out of lean range. I don't care about gaining a lot more performance and don't need the bike to be loud as I actually prefer quiet exhaust on this bike. Have other loud bikes and cars, like peace and quiet on the S10, or i'm just getting old. :) The bike goes pretty good stock, no real complaints, but if I can bump the "T" mode and "S" mode and ease throttle transition or make other improvements ??? I might try it. Is it a waste of time and money on the 14+ bikes is what I'm wondering. No need to mess with it if it's not worth it, but I might try it if others have noticed a positive improvement. What say you?

I was thinking about the same thing, and found a semi-scientific review of an akrapovic slip on with a DB Meter showing minimal difference in in noise over stock. Now, that is not a 2014+ model, but I don't think that matters with regards to the exhaust noise. Akrapovic is probably the most expensive exhaust out there, but the quality is excellent.

Power gains are minimal, its the changes to the characteristics of the bike that are improved.

For example the bike feels more powerful when you actually get the throttle position you're asking for rather than the gimped amount supplied through the throttle-by-wire. the fuelling changes make the bike smoother off idle and changes to the engine breaking and enabling the injectors on deceleration make for being able to use the power with more confidence.

IIRC FlashTune will re-flash your ECU if you make changes to the ECU for free.

If your interested in tweaking the bike and or completely changing what the 2 drive modes do with regular flashes might be worth buying the cable to do it. thats what I did, its compatible with 2 of my bikes so made the cost justifiable.

Just to reconfirm, are you referring to a 14 or 15 or 16 year model?

i.e. i've ridden a stock 12 and 13 and an ECU unleashed updated '12 and can understand what you are referring to. My '14 stock is much less abrupt and smoother on throttle than a stock 12 or 13.

I don't know about ECU Unleashed, but Flash Tune lists local shops at their web site. Of course you can mail your ECU from anywhere directly to ECU Unleased.

I had a 2012 and always wondered about this... never did it but rode Fredz43's 2012 with the reflash. It was ok but i like some compression braking.

Anyway, I got the 2014ES stock exhaust and now have 34,000 miles and while it's a great improvement over the 2012 I disliked how it worked coming on gas out of tight corners here in Western NC. So I sent it of to AC. I just got a notice that it is on it's way back.

ECU Unleashed is $449

AC is $225

I hope to be able to reply how I like this soon... however, it was 14F here today so it needs to warm up a bit first. ::026:: ::026::

Anyone in Sydney Australia want theirs flashed I'll do it for the cost of the Flashtune license ~$100 (depends on the exchange rate).

I'm not interested in mailing ECUs back and forth local guys/gals only

This is what is changed over stock - basically an unrestricted setup with smoother on-off-on and more response. engine braking is still there is just not so brutal any and all of the settings can be tweaked however you want.

I was looking into mapping it myself. Using the Flashtune software/hardware have you actually tried remapping an ECU from a different bike other than your own yet?

I've been reading on forums the so called software license you get becomes registered and tied to your email address and your particular ECU unit and serial number. Apparently when you go to map the new/different ECU it asks you to pay the $100 you refer to above, and then somehow your email then switches and gets tied to the new/different ECU - i.e. sort of putting you into a locked-out type situation... something to this effect. So, does this mean you then have to pay another $100 if you wanted to go back and re-update your own ECU?

Guys, I would wait to see if anything comes of this re-flash by Yamaha as part of a "recall". Supposedly the flash has some nice improvements and if it doesn't meet your needs, you could always do your own flash after the fact. Take the free option first :)

No thats not correct

I have flashed my Tenere, my MT/FZ09 and a couple of friends bikes.

Each time a new ECU is plugged into my harness while logged into my account the software looks for a virgin license on my account for the ECU to be paired with. If there are no Virgin licenses I'm prompted to buy another license

Once the License and ECU are paired, the ECU can be flashed over and over at no additional cost, along with all the other paired licenses and ECU's

If you were to go to someone else using another FT account you would have to pay for another license because YES licenses are locked to accounts and not transferable.
