First off...
Wow, I think we skipped Spring down here in South Texas and went straight to Summer. Went on a group ride this morning, and by mid-day the temps were in the high-80's F. By the time I was heading home two weather apps on my iPhone showed the temp as 91 - with a "real feel" heat index temp of 95 - and the ambient air temp meter on the Super Tenere showed 93 at sustained freeway speeds. Thermometer on my concrete driveway at home showed 101 degrees F, and that was after 4:00 PM... ???

Did I miss your impressions of the upgrade in all these posts?
I remember you saying you were doing this and I'd been thinking about the same thing...maybe. Just remember to preface it with "In MY OPINION" and nobody should get uptight about it
Nope, Desert Dave... You didn't miss my impressions. Went through New Braunfels in my car on a trip back home two weeks ago, and stopped by AF-1 with my ECU for the re-flash and to pick up my Arrow headers. Got home that same Thursday night and had the ECU before I went to bed, but business on Friday and Saturday kept me from installing the headers. Got a short ride in on that Sunday, but got little riding in during the week. Got in two separate long day rides last weekend, but still didn't get the headers on. Business intruded again this past week on riding or wrenching, but I did get that ride in today...
I have been waiting to post my impressions because I have wanted to get at least 1,000+ miles and more on the re-flash, in varying road and weather conditions, to fully evaluate it. I've been taking lots of notes, and I have been glad I first got to ride this long and as many miles *WITHOUT* installing the headers. This way I have a good back-to-back from stock to re-flash. Next the headers will go on and I will see how that changes things.
I'm still not ready to post my full *results* review, but suffice to say I am very pleased with the ECUnleashed re-flash so far, and even more so with AF-1... again... as always. I simply cannot say enough positive about Ed and his guys. They are the best in the business, and when I am ready to post my results I think everyone will be interested in some things I learned about the ECU's, their processors, their factory programming, the source of the ECUnleashed flash and the hardware to do it, etc., etc. Suffice to say there may be a few surprises for some.
One thing I can say without reservation - If you are here in the USA, and interested in a re-flash of your Super Tenere ECU... *IN MY OPINION* you will *NOT* in any way be disappointed dealing with Ed Cook and AF-1 Racing. Just remember what the original goal was with these re-flashes. Again, *IN MY OPINION* that goal is positively achieved with the ECUnleashed re-flash...
And don't think Diapason is the only one with a link to Yamaha's race efforts...

Like Tremor pointed out, I posted in reference to 1200and1's post about the Diapason ECU.
Question @Dallara: How did your bike run when you fitted the Arrow headers without the ECU Unleased flash? And how does it run now after the flash?
From what I understand the bike does not run smooth with only the Arrow headers fitted. Was that your experience too?
Hmmmmm... Maybe that's an advantage with the ECUnleashed re-flash over the Diapason (and maybe others) - i.e. that it can be *TAILORED* to your own particular bike, its mods, your geographic location (altitude, etc.), and so on. Would sure save a lot of time, money, and added complexity (with possible reliability issues) over having to get a PC-V, AutoTune, etc.
BTW, the ECUnleashed re-flash operates at all times in "open-loop", so there is no longer any need for the O2/Lambda sensors. That also works great with the Arrow headers as they come with these beautiful brass O2-bung plugs that are already pre-drilled for safety wire. *IN MY OPINION* this a great thing, too, as that is a couple less electronic components that could potentially fail out in the middle of nowhere. I still have the O2 sensors in mine as I have not installed the headers yet, but as soon as I do the O2 sensors will be on the shelf with the stock header pipes, catalytic converter, etc.
Just out of curiosity, Blue Eyes, how did you come to "understand the bike does not run smooth with only the Arrow headers fitted" ???
I haven't seen or heard that anywhere... Do you have a link?

In theory yes, in practice that will never happen, because that does not make any sense. If you wanted to replace the old ECU by a new one (for whatever reason), and they both have the same partnumber, how would one be able to tell that the new one is ordered/delivered.... No company in it's right mind will assign the same partnumber to a modified part. ::010::
That's just not true, Blue Eyes... At least not here in the USA.
I can't tell you how many Honda parts were changed, with no change in part number, over the years I was a Honda dealer. Same thing with GM, Ford, Lincoln-Mercury, Jeep, Subaru, etc. all the years I was a dealer for those brands. It happens *ALL* the time, even to the point it often does cause problems with dealers.
Remind me one day to tell you the story of the Honda V65 Magna gearbox, gears, etc. right along the lines of this discussion... Or the Jeep Grand Cherokee ECU's... Or the Ford BMC's (body module controllers)... Or the... Oh, well, you get the idea... but this isn't the thread for it.

It's common practice in the industry to have updated loads installed in an ECU with the same P/N.
Triumph released an updated map for the 800XC late last year, new builds had the updated map but the ECU had the same part number as the originals. You can run updated operating systems on you computer/electronic devices and the P N of the device does not change, the level of software changes, same for ECU's..
Regards, Paul
Amen & Hallelujah, Big Blu! Amen!
More on my ECUnleashed re-flash results another day!
Thanks!
