ECU Flash with offroading?

Dear friends,

I have been watching a lot of youtube videos (I am a newb, forgive me if the question is stupid) regarding engine power and off-roading. I know that, for example, some of the foremost dualsport "heroes" claim that more than 75hp (ish) will cause more difficulties offroad due to greater propensity to rear wheel spinning. Now, to my question. I know the S10 is dimmed quite heavily in the first gears, and some have told me that the first gear is attenuated as much as 50%. I can see how this would be beneficial offroad, especially in mud and similar. How much of a problem would it be, for offroading, to undergo the ECU flash?

I would love to have some more punch in the first gears for highway use, but not at the expense of offroad capabilities.

the attenuation in the first gears, is present in the GEN1…..The flash of the ECU, more than “power”, will smooth the accelerator. The restriction can be removed with a flash or with a switch that bypasses the clutch cables. Some users say that the first gear ratio is a bit long for offroad

I opted for a flash from Anthony, which I wrote a review about on here. I wanted the "T" mode to be better off road, which for me meant; no abrupt, computer instigated power change at 3,000 RPM, full power available at all RPM's in all gears, consistent and significant engine breaking (like stock but not stepped at various RPM's) smooth, progressive throttle response and I wanted the "S" mode (which I found to be unusable in stock trim) to again eliminate the 3,000 RPM abrupt shift in response and power delivery, quick but progressive throttle response, very low engine braking and full power at all RPM's in all gears. Anthony provided me with a flash that accomplished these requests and very quickly. The bike was good stock with the exception of the worst throttle response of any motorcycle I had ever ridden, and now I just enjoy riding without trying to ride around the aweful throttle response, Anthony made a good bike great, best modification one can make one an S10, particularly if being used off road.

Thanks guys, this is very useful! Seems that the FLASH CONFIG matters a lot here, if I am to get what I am looking for.

A good reflash will improve performance in all cases, on and off road. Note that the “attenuation” in the gen1 bikes does not limit horsepower, it just changes how much the throttle body opens in relation to the twist grip. The restriction reduces it to less than 1:1.

My flash is awesome. The tuner used the 6th gear map for t-mode and it's excellent for dirt and other slippery conditions. No remote feeling like the OEM t-mode response, just smooth, easy to control power.
