I just reached 8,000 miles on my 2019. The bridgestones are shot. My son is trying to talk me into a set of Dunlap Trailmax tires. Any comments?
Thanks

Dunlop Trailmax Mission tires seem to be very popular among the Super Tenere set these days with lots of good experience being noted in their use, including enhanced longevity. You need to choose, though, based on your proposed mix of usage. Somewhere I saw a set of tests of many popular tires for wet, dry, road surface comparisons, but can't lay my hands on it right now. Under the Tires sub-forum in the Technical Section of the Forum.

Way too subjective. But here are a couple threads from here. Might be what he was looking for. Hope it helps.

Good links, Sierra1. Not the comparo tables I had in mind wherever I saw them, but certainly enough information for an informed decision. Here is a link that may also be informative (it's not just about the Pirelli, that's just the lead-in url): https://www.topspeed.com/top-10-adventure-bike-tires-2023/#pirelli-scorpion-trail-ii-dual-sport

That would scare me that the compound is fairly hard. Hard doesn't do well on chip seal.

How are these in the rain/wet?

Been considering something besides the battlewings which i actually like and have run three sets of so far.

My riding here in Illinois is 90/10 where the 10 is loose gravel roads and or packed dirt.

If you want to ride north a little I have a set of Battle Wings that were used for 1200 miles you can have cheap. I can even put them on for you. Previous owner had them on.

I’m not a very aggressive rider but the TrailMax Mission tires have never given me any slippage issues. I was worried about slippage because of some other Dunlop tires I owned in the past that were very slippery when wet but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires, at least not for me.
i have previously used Bridgestone, Metzler, Dunlop and the Mitas tires , my opinion the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires are now about the best all round tire available for the Super Tenere.

I have 23000km or about 14000 miles on my TMM.
They have been over till pegs drag and no issues at all with slippage in dry conditions. They stick to chip sealed roads like sandpaper.
Excellent fire road and gravel at 50-60 mph where its practical.

They are slow to warm up(i have TPM that shows temp as well).
On a cold 40-60F day in the rain treat them as a full knobbie (on pavement)and don’t get aggressive.

I fully intend on 30000km +
My only complaint is carcus is heavy and very stiff (no compliance on little ridges on bad pavement). If pavement is really bad then hammer down.

I will post pics when i remove them.
They are at 50% of there new tread depth.

I have them on my DR 650 as well. In 5000miles they hardly show any wear. The sidewall harshness is not felt on the DR.

All this being said i am thinking i will put a set of TA3 on ST next for better sidewall compliance.

If i was heading out to Alaska or any long haul in which you would question tires making the whole trip, then no question, TMM will do it.
