Attempted a tight standing uturn on a twisting section of hill. The road was an annoying combo of loose round gravel over extremely dry hardpack. When i crested the rut in the middle of the track, my bike dipped downhill and i knew i wasnt going to be able to dab save it, its not a yz250.

Let the bike roll over (as if i had a choice), clearing my inside foot out of instinct. I rolled off the bike. The lean switch killed the motor.

I have a 225lb deadlift (which sucks compared to where i used to be) and lifting this bike was super easy. I tested that when i got the bike but that was years ago.

No damage! Just a little scrape on the corner of my pannier.

On the ride home i noticed my forks were twisted, which was absolutely my fault for lifting the bike like it was the goddamn crossfit games.

When i got home i loosened the top triples, cranked the bars back and forth and re torqued it all back to spec. Rides straight as an arrow again.

Sorry for no pics, i was embarrassed and just tried to get the bike back rolling as soon as possible.

Tldr: Givi crash bars did their job and took zero damage or deformation. Oem panniers are pretty damn tough!

Pulled off my shock sox and there is no weeping or seepage at all. Ill keep a close eye on the forks but they seem fine. I have all the tools to rebuild them this winter if needed.

Lol yeah. With the amount of fun i have off road in this bike, its honestly amazing it didn’t happen sooner.

I am also doing this wrong: the tenere is the only bike ive ridden off road since a bit of fun with dirtbikes many decades ago.

Nice job on touching up the bars. If you ride a lot of off road I would definitely put something on to protect the sump and oil filter.

Absolutely. This winter i will be adding a skid plate for exactly that kind of projection.

Pleased to hear that you were not injured...that is really the only thing that counts...
I've dropped my Tenere and Africa Twin and my CRL 250 and my CB650F and my Honda 305 Super Hawk....hey there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, cause everyone has dropped their bikes or did drop their bikes or can drop their bikes or will drop their bikes, well, I guess there are some riders who are liars....ha ha...you are to be admired, you are honest and there's certainly no shame, all one must do is to analyze and promise to never do that again.
