After much consideration, I've decided to post about this.

My bike's luggage is sagging.

My uncle is a dealer and he's seen it and we've discussed it extensively. We are 90% sure that we know what's wrong.

Anyone else with OEM luggage have a sagging problem?

No, but I will add that Yamaha rates the boxes at 25 lbs or something like that. Also, there isn't a connector tube around the back of the bike, which might be necessary for heavier loads. Did the foot pegs bend, or the bolts that hold them in? bent frame?

LOL

Mine are straight after over a year loaded many times and over the limit a number of times. I would think the bottom mounts may have came in on you? They would flex to a point, but If you did a jump or hit a big bump with loaded boxes I would think this may happen if it's not that you have dropped it on each side? I ride two up most of the time so no jumps or big fast bumps for me with loaded boxes on. :(
If you bent the bottom mounts out a tad I think they would be straight again.

My left bag sags more than the rt which appears level.,I haven't overloaded them or hit anything with it either. I have wondered if the lower mtg near foot peg is part of issue.

Okay whats wrong?

Mine are straight and even after 14 months.

The weak point is the lower rear corner is not supported but I can't see that being a problem unless...

::015:: It is now possible to get tablets for sagging luggage. Not having suffered from this malfunction, I am not sure what the tablets are called but I think it is Viagra or Cialis. ::021::

Same here with mine and it has been like that since day one. No worse 15k miles later.

I'm just about convinced that the foot peg mounts are bent. Could some of you take a look at your bike from the front? With both pegs down, the driver pegs are angled up a bit and the passenger pegs are just slightly below level. There is a little rubber ridge on the outside of the passenger peg. With a level on this ridge, mine are level. In other words, the passenger pegs are droopy too.

Do you ride with a pillion a lot of the time? And not being rude or anything but how much does your pillion weigh and how does he / she mount the bike? The left side would get the most weight on it if the pillion stands on that peg to 'get their leg over' :D

Yes, always have a pillion. And yes, she always steps on the left peg.

Don't think we can blame it on her weight...

Peg brackets are flimsy. You can flex them just by pushing down with your hand. That is most likely the culprit. I don't ride two up enough for mine to be affected. My left one has always drooped from day one. Right side is fairly level.

I think to assess this issue any further we are going to need more detailed specifications, diagrams and photographs of the pillion. ::015::
