OK, those of you who like a bit of British science fiction that's not too high brow or elaborate will have come across Dr Who on yer travel's. We've had some cracking Dr's over the years but... We have a new Dr Who (Peter Capaldi) and it's just not working for me. I think he's a decent actor but he's just not a Dr Who. Is it just me being picky ?

P.S. his sidekick played by Jenna Coleman really does work for me ;)

I've watched Dr. Who off and on for several years due to my son's interest. Agree, Capaldi has the talent but not the panache, a bit like Timothy Dalton playing James Bond. However, I won't miss an episod

Episode of the 2014 season on account of Jenna Coleman. She's the cutest thing on 2 wheels.

Special thanks to Tapatalk for whacking my post.

yeah he's not really doing for me either - plus some of the writing has really sucked.

Still, worst case, there's always Jenna...

I haven't really warmed up to the new Dr but Matt Smith took a while for me as well....my favorite of the new era is still David Tennant. Course I first started watching in the Tom Baker era....

::026:: for David Tennant, cracking Dr. Oddly enough his predecessor Christopher Ecclestone is a great actor but I didn't rate him much as a Dr either ?

Ive been watching on and off since it started and it always takes time to except a new actor, they seem to have gone back to the early days with an older doctor. I have found the story line a bit uninteresting for me, just cant see to get into it :-\

Ecclestone wasn't bad but to me Tennant to the role and ran with it....I think because I like Tennant to so much it took me a while to get use to Matt Smith...

Also think Tennant gave the Dr a broader appeal. People who weren't particularly into Dr. Who would became interested and watched.

For being as big of a geek as I am, I didn't really start watching until the Matt Smith era, and like many here, it was Jenna Coleman that pulled me in :)

I have watched Dr. Who since my childhood years and now all of the Hanauer family have been avid watchers, since it's return with Christopher Ecclestone. Both David Tennant and Matt Smith went down very well with us, as did Billie Piper, Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman, Karen Gillan and Genna Coleman.

However, despite his being a very accomplished actor, the general consensus in our house, is that Peter Capaldi's interpretation of the Doctor is not doing anything positive for the character at all. We also feel that his efforts are not helped by the incredibly dull, contrived and poorly imagined story lines, that try to hold this patchy series together either.

My wife and kids now don't even bother with it any longer and choose to watch some mindless dancing/singing related game show garbage now. So my regular dose of Dr. Who related sci-fi has been withdrawn from our viewing schedule, which is a shame really but if all else fails, I can always blow the dust off my Babylon 5 DVD collection. ;D

I may be the only one, but I like Capaldi's Doctor. But I agree that the writing this season hasn't been as good in general.

I'm also a B5 fan. Not sure what this "reboot" that JMS has in the works will be like, but hoping it will be good.

I liked B5 in its day....but like many show of that era its seems a bit campy now. I hadn't hear of a reboot.

All add that the new Battlestar Galactica was very good and I really liked Farscape.

Right now my all time number one Scifi Show is Firefly.... Brown Coat through and through....

B5 for me was the greatest Sci-fi series, ground breaking SFX for the time and an amazing story arc to boot.

It knocked the socks off DS9, way too much PC Trek in the 90's for my taste.

Capaldi is good, there's a bit of William Hartnell in there somewhere I'm sure!

I think he's been badly let down by the script writers. I hope the next series is a bit more inspired...

I have been a Doctor Who fan since Thomas Baker. Lucky enough to meet him at a DR Who Convention in Palo Alto, CA.

I find for each new "Doctor" I hate him at first .. But after awhile .. hate him less .. then like him .. but then he leaves ... (Repeat)

BTW: I would love to see a Female Doctor as well as a OO7 as a female (Jane Bond ... daughter to James and Moneypenny)
