Yes, I've loaded it with some heavy stuff on a trip, had one or two horizontal moments, etc. and it's still perfect. I had my doubts about the polucarb, but it doesn't budge under strain such as tying stuff down.
Was worth the effort (and the money saved). I've made a couple of things myself - sidestand foot enlarger (not sure what to call it), I made a secure mounting for my Garmin Nuvi - also from policarb, made my own sheepskin seat cover, the leather pannier boxes, a leather tank bag with what was left of the pannier leather (and pieces of an old leather rugby ball!!) and a few other odds and ens, such as my own bracket for the LED bar light, after the previous one broke and the light damaged the front mudguard.
So instead of getting an expensive mudguard replacement I cut away a piece, thereby making it shorter and got one of those plastic mudguard extenders, which worked out pretty well and recently took all the mud and gravel I encourted without a problem.
Oh yes and I made a fishing rod holder from an aluminium coffee flask, that also worked out pretty well. Perhaps I should make a video of the stuff.
I like to first try my own version of something as far as possible if it doesn't look too shabby. One can get yourself into a lot of debt so quickly with all the temptations available these days.
