G'day Ladies and Gents - Aussie living in Seattle, looking to buy a :p Super Ten.

Now ... Im no newbie to the bike scene ... my garage still has a 2001 CR250R ... gotta love a 2-stroke motocrosser!

Need to sell my <ahem> Honda VTX-1300 first (or trade it in) ... then to hit the summer open road ... oh yeah!

Cheers!

Super expensive for Aussies given the exchange rate against the USD (and Yen I presume as well) - which is above parity (ie above AUD$1:USD$1)

Ive lived in the States for the last 11 years, and prices here are very competitive. I was actually just back in Sydney early March 2012, and I have to say, not just given the exchange rate, but prices seem to be double for just about everything compared to prices here in the States.

So ... I googled and saw a reference to a 2010 S10 for about AUD$20k base ... compared to USD$13.5k here in the States ... poor ol' Aussies must be feeling the pain! :(

Hey Dingo, good to another wise Aussie with a Super Tenere. Can't be many of us in the US! I'm in DC, here for 10 years.

Yes it's a bit painful on the wallet going back to Oz these days... on the other hand, somebody's making money. My nephew, 21 and fresh out of school as a geologist... is making something over $100k (he won't tell me how much over!) in the mines up north. Not bad for a kid...

Glad I got the S10 here...

Trevor

Oh yeah ... that's where the money is back home, in mining. Sounds like your nephew is cleaning up – nice one.

The economy down there is not booming (housing prices are a little flat, and even falling, which is not typical) and from what I was told, mining is what is keeping the joint afloat.

The high demand for the AUD$ doesn’t help given the interest rate differential (Australia having high rates relative to US, meaning increased demand for $AUD). Blows for us ex-pats heading back. I remember back in the 80s (Keating’s Banana republic!) when it was USD$0.45=AUD$1 … those were the days …

You also know when the taxi drivers are bitchin’ something ain’t right! :'(

Hi Dingo,
I just bought my raven from sportland, drove out there this past saturday and trailered it back over the pass. Jeff is a great guy to work with. Nice guy!
