That is correct, but I do plan to set it to TC2 when I take my demo next week. Of course I may just be too damn excited and forget, but that is my plan.
I switched through all the modes, but really felt the difference between "S" and 'T", It was a dry day, and we hit no dirt to speak of, just pavement. I did not feel anything between tc1,tc2, off.

I'm hoping it will be more tolerant of lifting the front end off the ground in TC2. It's a bad habit of mine.

oh, it will do that, no doubt

In Florida, $1000.00 per event when the front wheel comes off the ground.

Really? I can see that for some of the crazy wheelie squids, but how about an unintentional "lift" when going through the gears (by an old fogey)?!?! ;)

I did a small, unintentional wheelie and when we got back, the chaser just smiled..

No problem. Unless you're following me on a back road with no traffic you will never see me wheelie. Even in that situation my street wheelies are rarely more than a foot or two off the ground. Just enough to make me smile. Big air is reserved for the dirt, preferably on a smaller bike.

I don't have a problem with a big fine. I see a lot of big air wheelies on busy roads and highways around here. I take a very dim view of any rider putting someone else at risk. Show off wheelies are very distracting to other drivers and if they crash who knows what mayhem will follow. A $1000 for big air sounds about right. Anything for a mistaken dumped clutch hop on the street would be ridiculous.

Sorry dude, I should've posted something as soon as I heard about it. I got an email from a local guy here and I informed people that I knew were pretty close. They were rained out Friday and were there today from 9:00-12:00. Kind of surprised at a such small window of opportunity.
I sat on the bike back in December (was a last minute word of mouth) at this dealer and asked about demo rides. They told me to sign up for their newsletter which I did, but I never received a peep from them regarding this demo. Did anyone ask why they weren't listed on the offical demo/display schedule Yamama put out?

I'm signed up with two other local dealer newsletters and one of them did notify me of a display bike about an hour before they took it away.

I've read in this forum about some dealers not even knowing the bike was for sale , so It makes me wonder, do the dealers really know whats going on with demo's, displays and delivery times????

they don't really care why/how you got it off the ground. There is no age discrimination.

I'm sure there is not - but there are times when full gear, gray hair and "vet" license plates DO make a difference. DAMHIK

damn why didn't I hear about this before it happened? I definitely would have gone out there.

Why was this not listed on the website?   http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/mcy/demo.aspx

Does anyone know if a Super Tenere will be anywhere close to new york city any time soon? Because I don't trust that schedule

Well, I was one of the lucky who got to test ride the New Yamaha on Saturday at MCC. I had run up on Friday but they would not do any test rides in the rain :'( So I signed up Friday for a Saturday morning test ride.

I currently ride an '07 VFR 25th anniversary bike and while I really like it, am looking for something that is more Touring than Sport. I have been holding my breath waiting for Honda to bring a Trans Alp type bike to the US but that just does not seem to be any time soon.

I had already test rode the new Ducati MS1200, and while that ride was fantastic, the buy-in and long term cost of ownership is just WAY to high. The BMW is nice as well but also (to me) way to costly, which brings me to the Yamaha.

When my time was ready on the bike, the guy from GoPro was setting up a front camera on the bike (they gave me the SD card after the ride) so I have video of the ride but it is a 1GB file and I have no way to post it.

As far as my impressions - AWESOME! I really loved the ride. Power was smooth and linear with plenty of grunt, I purposely ran a few turns in a higher gear just to see if it would bog down but there is plenty of low RPM torque even in a high gear to keep things moving. When you do get moving the ride is very comfy, low/no vibes (mirrors where clear - unlike the Ducati, vibes make the mirrors useless), the bike is very light when moving and handles pretty quickly. Stood on the pegs for some of the back roads and the bike was very stable, could easily be handled I think on fire roads and some trails. Overall I am very interested in this bike. I hope some get delivered soon as I would love to see some actual user feedback. When the Ducati first came out there were some first year bugs that need factory tweaks to fix, but the Yamaha seems to have been available in Europe for some time and I have not seen (read) of any similar issues yet.

I also rode the BMW GS1200 right after the Yamaha so I would have a direct comparison. First I really did not like the motor at idle on the BMW, it really effects the balance of the bike when not moving. The turn signals were just stupid and I know I would hate using them. The ride was nice but seemed heavy compared to both the Yamaha and Ducati. Power was very good but also put a lot of vibration thru the bike which could get tiring over a long ride. Overall it is just bigger as well, wider, taller, (seemed) heavier, etc. I nice bike for sure but just not as nice as the Yamaha to me.

In speaking to the Yamaha guy it looks like a true delivery date on these will not be until July at best. All the demo bikes (7 in all left) in the US were Euro spec bikes and were supposed to have been shipped back some time ago, he said it took a lot of arm twisting to even keep the 7 here for demo's. He did say that Yamaha has plenty of components to build these bikes and get them over here for delivery - except that the plant where the bike is assembled has had no power due to the earthquakes. He said right now the target date for delivery was likely July, with all the pre-orders getting delivered in order, then dealers would get a bike for display depending on what remained.

I am still undecided if I want to put a deposit on one or not, but I really liked it so I may this week.

Thanks for the report - are you saying though that they are still taking orders, even though the PDP program officially ended 11 days ago?

The sale guy at MCC did ask me if I wanted to put a deposit down, which I declined at the time. I am going to run up to the dealer sometime this week and see what the deal is, if they are still taking deposits. The Yamaha rep also asked me if I put a deposit down YET? When I told him no he just shrugged, said he was just wondering which dealers where taking the most deposits, he said it seems like a bulk of the deposits were on the West Coast for some reason.

Welcome to the Forum JHKolb and thanks for the very nice review/comparison of the SuperT!!! I'm curious too if you will still be able to put a deposit down under the "normal" PDP. If not, perhaps you can find a dealer that has ordered "extras".

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the report. To date I have not heard a real world report that gives me any doubt on my decision. Can't wait till it gets here, whenever that is.

I guess the Ducati stays in the garage for another year. No worries.

That was my same response when Koinz first told me about it. No mention of it anywhere. Not even on the dealer's website, and heck, they're the main beneficiary!

Nice report. Thanks for taking the time to give the bike a real look and report your findings.

It was probably a last minute thing with them as well. They didn't have a trailer full of bikes or a large tent or anything.
