I just wanted to share my experience with Mobil Delvac 1300. I don't want to start an oil thread, just sharing my experience. I run Rotella T6 or the Dino version and have for many years. It always shears down around 2k miles and shifting gets a bit notch, it manu oil analysis by many shows it still protects well.

I thought I would try Delvac as it was on sale. The shifting was not good from the start, and continued to worsen, and the engine was noisier than normal after 100 miles. Several times it was harder to find neutral and that is not normal on my S10. Needless to say, I changed it out at 1200 miles and replaced it with Valvoline Blue...wow, that stuff is even better and smoother than Rotella. I am lucky enough to get it on sale from Menards.

Just wanted to share my thought so and experience to help some oil experimentor out there

Damn! I have Delvac 1300 on hand ready to try for my next oil change. I am currently using Delo 15w-40 and love it but I wanted to give Delvac a try. Hmmm. Maybe I will return it. Thanks for the heads up.

I did not like it from the first ride, but at $10 a gallon, I thought I would give it a go. As stated, on paper it is good stuf...but wow, this valvoline blue on sale at Menards is really good. I heard delo is a good shifter too. Take the delvac back, you won,t like it. Get some old Rotella after 3000 miles and pour it in...that is what delvac feels like ???

I've tried the Delo, Rotella and Delvac and could tell no difference in any of them, but this was on my old 1977 Kawasaki KZ650, not the super tenere. Experiences with oil are always interesting to say the least.

I too have used all of the popular oils in other bikes but not this one. This is also my first Yamaha and I have heard Yamaha's tend to be pretty hard on oil which means the oil breaks down quickly and the shifting gets notchy.

So far I have tried Rotella t6 5w-40, delo 5w-40 and Yamaha 10w-40 plus whatever it came with from the factory. I am pretty sure I am done with 5w-40. It breaks down and gets notchy shifting way too soon and I don't ride in weather colder than 40 degrees so I don't need the 5w part of 5w-40. Maybe I will try Delo 15w-40 next.
